Great Experience For The Price
By ,
I booked a stay at the Westin Cancun to celebrate an important birthday. The resort large, spread out and there always appeared to be plenty of room around the pool. The service was excellent and the staff always tried to meet every request. Yes as some guest have stated some of the furnishings in the room are a little old. And yes it's very humid- it set between the sea and a lagoon- so what do you expect. For the price, it's a wonderful place to go to escape from the crowds and the noise- just relax and enjoy the beautiful ocean and the sounds of the crashing waves. As others have mentioned, try to upgrade to the Royal tower- it's well worth it.

nice hotel, xlnt. price
By ,
zona hotelera, clean room, ocean view, not crowded....close to the airport...only problem,.........almost the last hotel on the zone, no restaurants, bars,...only the hotels. but you can use city buses to shopping centers, downtown, etc. etc, ......for only .50 cents US money and is 24/7 service, most drivers speak english and are very helpful. and best of all.......less than 90 dlls. per night

Why the complaints?
By ,
I've stayed at plenty of Westins all over the world (a platinum SPG member). It's the first time I stayed at the Cancun location. I chose it because it's closest to the airport and I wanted to stay away from the spring break crowd. It's fantastic. It's the first hotel from the airport so transportation is a breeze! It's right next door to club med so I walked over there all the time (great snorkeling spot). It's not the biggest, fanciest resort or timeshare village with the biggest pools, but it's not crowded either, which I love (I hate it when all those tourist families are hogging everything, plus the teenagers, the spring break college kids... you get my point). It's really not far from everything and the bus rides are interseting (and cheap! Only 40 cents each way). But -- DO get the upgrade to the Royal Beach Club -- the extra large rooms, the free breakfast buffet and happy hour (free food and drinks), and the private beach are well worth it (the meals themselves saved us $50 a day, at least). The mango frozen margaritas were addictive (and free at the happy hour!) We had a great time. Again, if you're looking for something fancy, huge, crowded, and walk to Wal-Mart and Hard Rock Cafe (i.e. being a complete American tourist) -- it's not for you. But if you want some chillax time, great beach, and friendly service, it's really a great choice.

Nice place but not the best
By ,
Just got back. We were there 09-12-08 thru 09-17-08. Beach was the best part. Open and lots of sand. Pools were ok. The hotel was very clean but in need of a up date. The staff was very nice and helpfull. There is a turtle farm to the south of the hotel and every night at 7:30ish the baby turtles come out. Way Cool. It looks like this hotel in one of the oldest on the beach but for the price not bad. Just under stand you are a 20 min bus ride from the bars, but a $1.50 US for 2 people not bad.

What a GREAT place!
By ,
This place was amazing. I stayed there in the last week of April 2008 and it was just perfect. I had a room at the Royal Beach Club which has wonderful views of the ocean right from your balcony. The rooms were giant, clean, and the beds were so comfortable. All of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The beach wasn't crowded at all the entire time. The hotel is at the end of the strip so it's tucked away from all craziness but it's only a short, quick bus ride away. I had no problems getting around to where I wanted to go. The free breakfast buffet every morning was fantastic as well as a free three hour cocktail hour everyday with food included (quesadillas, nachos, jalepeno poppers, sandwiches, etc.). Some days I found it hard to leave the resort because everything you could possible want was right there. I will most definitely be returning to cancun again and will stay at the Westin again. I felt like a king the entire time I was there.

An all right hotel
By ,
Overall I would say this hotel is all right. Some of the furnitures (night table, dresser)need to be upgraded. The pool is not large, but the beach is not very crowded. This hotel is located in the southern end of the Hotel Zone, while most restaurants are in the middle. So if you plan to stay there for more than three days and don't have a rental car, my recommendation is to live somewhere else, since I only found one restaurant on site. There are many buses in the Hotel zone, but you know ......

worst place yet
By ,
We are frequent westin regina visitors (cabos, puerto vallarta, isla mujeres) and thought we would visit the cancun property. That was a big mistake! Upon arrival we waited to check in, not because of the crowd, but because the front desk was more interested in their conversations rather than help us check in. We also had to sign for tv remote controls (first) as well as the in-room safe key (understandable). We were also advise to return tomorrow for an extra key card (they're all out). The next adventure involved our room. The bedroom did not have a phone, the floors were dusty and there were not enough towels and hangers. I thought I'd relax in the jacuzzi, but water coming out of the spout was filthy (it was dirty all week). Unfortunately, the rest of the vacation was consistent poor, without any consideration nor apologies from the unhelpfull staff (very atypical). One should stay at the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach or the two Marriotts for better conditions and service.

Nickeling and diming interfered with experience
By ,
The Westin Resort and Spa, while a bit austere, would have been a fine place to stay -- our room was large and spacious and clean and the hotel pool and beach nice-- but for the fact that the hotel tried to charge me for things I felt they shouldn't. For example, though I paid $15 extra per day for wireless internet service, they wanted to charge me an additional $10 for printing out a single receipt (from the internet for a dolphin swim we had booked). Then, they tried to charge me $10 for use of the on-site gym. I protested in both cases, and they waived the fees, but it soured the experience that they even tried.

GREAT HOTEL
By ,
we just returned fron cancun and loved our time at the westin. Beautiful location, friendly service staff. That said we did have a power outage several hours on two different day's. One until midnight. Also bathroom and mini bar plugin was a on off again situtaion. So using hair dryer was difficult. No rooms available to move. Manager gave a buffet to compesate. Need to address electrical problems.tour planner, ortila in lobby is the one to see for tours.

Great frozen margaritas
By ,
Drinks on the beach were great. So was the facial at the spa. This is the first hotel from the airport on the strip.
