Lake Anna Lodge, Spotsylvania

Do not stay here!!! Rooms smell like death and the beds smell as if they never clean them. Right below this roach motel is a nice camping ground less than a mile and it is right on the water for only $14.50 a person per night... And trust me, this place feels cleaner than this motel!!!! And the employees at that camp groud are extremly friendly and have great customer service and will help you and give you anything you need. If you stay here they will charge you for every little thing and god forbid if you want to stay a little later than check out time, and not stay the night... Prices are different everytime and different for every person. Make sure they go over every detail to you before signing your receipt!!!! They also do not give you any soap, shampoo or towels to take a shower so be sure to bring those with you as well....

I stay here 3-4 times a year. Older motel: run by a polite "willing to please " family, clean, good price, very close to 3 docks, and the ajoining resturant , Chelsea's has great food. Bar area is seperate from the dinning area.

After boking, I did have second thoughts because I wanted to bring my boat. 23' Pleasure-Deck boat. Owner said parking was tight and I would have to unhook from my truck and park trailer and truck side by side. Parking was tight so I decided to take my boat and trailer to the marina next door. The roomsare small and the building is old but for the money, I thought it was a great value. Yes we would go back. The restaurant/Bar attached to the building, is owned and operated by others but is also GREAT. The food was awsum and the service was fantastic. This little hotel was, for the money, a great place to stay and I am very picky about hotels. We have stayed at both hotels at Lake Anna and, for not being on the water, I was happy with my choice. The Marina next door is where I took my boat and trailer and for $2.00/night, left the boat on the trailer and had no worries. They lock the place up at night and my boat was fine the next day. So , if you are going to the Lake for a weekend and want a place to sleep because you are going boating/fishing the next day and not hanging at the hotel...this place is just fine.

Conventiently located near Lake Anna,Very comfortable bed,front deskcalled room 10 minutes after check-in to insure all was well in the room.

'It show that this is a family owned business, everything was well cared for, even us, best beds i ever slept in".

Not only was it a dump, but when we went to check in, they acted like they didn't know anything about the $55.00 rate that we found on the internet when we googled Lake Anna, Va. lodging . We ended up paying 89.95 + $10.00 local tax for a grand total of $99.95. They are one of the only ones in the area with a room, so we took the rooms. I do realize the rule of supply and demand, but why advertise one rate and charge another. Advertise the real rate if it changes on weekends. The room was ok, cinder block walls and such. None of the tv remotes for any of the friends we were with worked (4 rooms). Our towels were old and tatered. One was actually torn at one end. But I guess what bothered me most was the unfriendly welcome from the owners. They couldn't understand me and seemed to care less that I was there or not. Next year, our club will find another place to stay.

This motel has no competition, there is no other option, so they do as they please. The location is great, just walk across the road and you are on the lake. Don't expect anything more, is better that tent and camping, other than that it is as low as u can get. This is a single star motel/dump

we were put down back, dirt parking lot and dark, no frid. or microwave was brought one the next day, had to hunt for the owener any time we needed any thing no ice machines had to go next door at reastrant for ice,owner did all cleaning and beds him self no help at all,stayed there for 4 nights would never stay there again.

We had booked weekend stays from May-June 06 because we had some activities to attend & it was very close by. In ANY hotel the check-in time is after 3 pm. However, if you get here after 5 pm the owner might not be there or might be on the phone harrassing someone else about not being there to check-in. The "office" is a room where they do laundry & have clothes all over the place w/ junk scattered for highlights, I suppose. There is no lobby. If you currently live in a run down trailer park, then this place will be pretty nice for you. The keys to the rooms are ACTUAL KEYS!! The room(s) we got for a few weekends had round doorknobs with those turn-button locks in the middle of the knob. They didn't have any door chains or deadlocks for the inside of the door! This is a MAJOR security issue. The doors are flimsy anyway. I bet an emaciated super model could kick it in. Unless they've redone the interiors, one of our rooms had a very scummy bathroom with grout coming out from around the tub. They don't allow pets here. There is no Internet connection (for $99 a night this should be a given). When you leave in the morning, you have to drop off the key in the mail box. You don't get a bill. You better hope that they charge your card correctly. One morning both our van's side mirrors had been broken by vandals. Later we heard this was a "bad side of town". For the price of $79 a night (I think it's $99 now) it's NOT worth staying here, even if it is the closest to what you're attending. Try the Quality Inn down at the 118 exit in Thornburg.

Small Motel under new management...... Paul, the Mgr., could not have been more helpful. The rooms were adequate with Cable TV and clean showers with good water pressure and A/C.... Chelsea's Resturant was not only a bargain but quite nice actually with Steamed Shrimp and WED special feature a 1/2 pound burger cooked like you like it for 1/2 PRICE! Laid back place to regroup if you don/t want to haul a camper and we rented Jet Ski's for several days from Wave Rider who threw in FREE GASOLINE! WE HAD A BLAST and went home with money in our pockets..............
