Okay, but I would not stay here again
I read the reviews from others about the Springhouse Inn, and decided to give it a try. When we arrived at the Springhouse Inn, I was shocked to see as we pulled into the parking lot that the grounds were not very well kept. There were weeds around all of the flower beds, although it did look like they were trying to attempt to work on the landscaping, so maybe it will be better later in the season. The building next door was a total disaster, but I later found out that the building was for sale, and that was why the landscaping condition over in that area was so bad (unfortunatley, it looks like this building is part of the Springhouse Inn). When we checked in, we went to our room, and the key card did not work. No big deal, we went back to the desk to get it fixed. Instead of fixing it, they just gave us a new room. When we went to that room, the patio door was wide open, so we tried to close it, but it could not be closed or locked. We went back to the desk, and they gave us yet another room, which was fine aside from the ink pen scribbling/drawing on one of the walls. The pool area was nice, but it could have used a little more attention in the housekeeping department. I suppose my expectations may have been set a little high for this place, but the little details at hotels and resorts are what matters in the end. I knew it was an older building, and that is fine, as long as the staff and owners take the time to keep it up in good condition. After all, we spend our hard earned money for a vacation to relax and enjoy ourselves once or twice a year. The staff was okay, but did not make you feel like you were family as their advertisement says. With a place that small, you would think that they would be trying to pamper there guests as much as possible. I would not call it a total dump, but I would not stay at this hotel again.
