Find another "get-a-way" place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/14/08
What a huge disappointment. We reserved the King Whirlpool room for a birthday get-a-way. The room was run down and filthy. The buttons on the whirlpool were broken, the doors didn't shut or lock properly (had to put a chair in front of the patio doors), the carpet needed to be replaced (beyond cleaning), the chairs were so gross I covered them with towels, the toilet ran (had to jiggle the handle to stop it), the walls were so thin that I heard EVERY WORD of the people next door, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable - not to mention the thin and worn sheets with pillage. To make matters worse the hot tub in the pool area didn't work and the fireplace (the main reason we booked there in the first place) didn't work either! This place needs major updating and new management. When I voiced my concerns of misrepresentation their solution was 10 percent off my $138 bill! Whoopie! I got $13.80 back --- you have GOT to be kidding! Oh yeah... the lights in the hall shorted out when we straightened a lamp shade! When we told them, they said, "That is why we don't touch them!" Just glad it was only one night. I suggest any one of the NEWER, NICER hotels in the area... this place is a dump and offers NOTHING at all special.

Indifferent Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/31/07
The staff was indifferent to our presence there despite the fact that our group had over 12 rooms. The front desk was rude and unhelpful. The housekeeping marginal. The pool was adequate. The weeds mentioned in Brian's '06 review were still there and now there is a For Sale sign out front for the "spa" that was a part of the hotel. I guess it was a really nice place in '05 but it's really gone downhill since. The breakfast items ran out and they stopped replacing them 30 minutes before the meal ended (no sleeping in there!). As for the town: few restaurants for families. We catered a dinner into the hotel but the staff wouldn't let us borrow their serving utensils. Wouldn't recommend the place to anyone.

Okay, but I would not stay here again
By Brian, 07/09/07
I read the reviews from others about the Springhouse Inn, and decided to give it a try. When we arrived at the Springhouse Inn, I was shocked to see as we pulled into the parking lot that the grounds were not very well kept. There were weeds around all of the flower beds, although it did look like they were trying to attempt to work on the landscaping, so maybe it will be better later in the season. The building next door was a total disaster, but I later found out that the building was for sale, and that was why the landscaping condition over in that area was so bad (unfortunatley, it looks like this building is part of the Springhouse Inn). When we checked in, we went to our room, and the key card did not work. No big deal, we went back to the desk to get it fixed. Instead of fixing it, they just gave us a new room. When we went to that room, the patio door was wide open, so we tried to close it, but it could not be closed or locked. We went back to the desk, and they gave us yet another room, which was fine aside from the ink pen scribbling/drawing on one of the walls. The pool area was nice, but it could have used a little more attention in the housekeeping department. I suppose my expectations may have been set a little high for this place, but the little details at hotels and resorts are what matters in the end. I knew it was an older building, and that is fine, as long as the staff and owners take the time to keep it up in good condition. After all, we spend our hard earned money for a vacation to relax and enjoy ourselves once or twice a year. The staff was okay, but did not make you feel like you were family as their advertisement says. With a place that small, you would think that they would be trying to pamper there guests as much as possible. I would not call it a total dump, but I would not stay at this hotel again.

A nice getaway!
By , 11/12/06
The people are very kind, the room we stayed in was so nice! It felt very cozy. I liked the fact that the hotel is a little off the beaten path. The only problems I found were that there were a few holes in the hallway carpet, and they still have a few kinks to work out with their breakfast. Other than that, we enjoyed ourselves. The pool is open 24 hours, which is the first I've ever seen of that. The funniest thing was when we entered the lobby, we were greeted by a little maltese. The guy at the front desk said, "That's our security." We got a good laugh out of that. If you're a couple, try to get the room with a jacuzzi.
