Good price but you get what you pay for

We stayed here a few nights for local area attractions. LA transit is right around the corner for local bus service to Disneyland, etc.
As of Feb. 07, this hotel was still being remodeled into a non-smoking hotel. There was a construction crew that occupied the most secure area of the parking lot. There were many unsecured parking spaces. The hotel is in back of some rather seedy looking residential areas. The hotel is owned & operated by middle-easterners who speak hybrid English, with the exception of one lady who spoke 3-4 languages and was excellent!
There is no on-site laundry, but a laundromat next door is in a 'working' part of town. You will have to speak Spanish fluently to use any of the businesses located in the mini-mall it was in. Manager though, was American. As a woman, I would not go here BY MYSELF even during the day. When we were there, Super 8 was doing their sheets. BYO SOAP! The manager wasn't too keen on stocking any reliable soap or dryer sheets. Most of the machines took two time settings for drying. We had 3 loads and it took us 2.5 hours to wash & dry! This seedy laundry is NOT Comfort Inn's fault, just a fact of locale near the hotel.
The hotel was well-kept, nice lobby & clean smelling rooms with immaculate bathrooms! Breakfast was high sugar & carbs, but they had fresh fruit and hard-boiled eggs for the light-eating types in addition to sugar-coated cereal and waffles.
Front desk staff was helpful, cleaning staff was actually more attentive and better than the Hyatt! Rooms have a fridge, small microwave, and usable soap! Some rooms were tight with space, but remember that you get what you pay for.
They are still improving security - I had a person who was living out of their car follow me into the hotel and begin to try room doors. Security was notified and they were escorted out.
Pool and hot tub closed at 10 promptly. Contrary to advertisement, you CANNOT see the Disneyland fireworks from the back parking lot of the hotel!
MORAL: If you want better security and room service, go somewhere else (like say, a few blocks down the road!) and pay for it! This was a great place if you just wanted somewhere cheap to crash while seeing the sights. If you are traveling alone, I would pay more $$ and stay elsewhere. If I had to do it over again, I would pay more $ for a room at a different hotel and have better peace of mind. Definite Average rating with average value, good service & excellent cleanliness.
