Elegant, yet homey and comfortable.
By ,
Beautiful furnishings and decorations in every room. The breakfast was over abundant and delicious. The host was extremely friendly, helpful., and made everyone feel welcome.I was there three summers ago (2005) for a wedding. A friend and I stayed in the bedroom downstairs just off the kitchen. It was very plush and comfy, and quiet. Now I want to go back next week, but I have been unable to make a reservation. The phone numbers listed don't seem to work and it is not listed in directory information. Is this place still operating? - Christine

A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE
By ,
Where do you start when you receive customer service that goes way beyond the call of duty. From the moment I phoned and rephoned as we needed more rooms, Jon and his staff were a pleasure to work with. Come the day of our family wedding (10 of us total) it was raining and we were in town at noon no place to go, when I called, Jon said come on we'll be ready for you and they were. The place is so beautiful and the views!!! The garden area made great picture taking for family before the wedding. Breakfast in the am was worth $20.00 a piece but no included in our stay. But then Jon gave my 79 year old mother a further discount then he had already given us. Well needless to say we will be returning as our niece now resides in Bellingham. You'll not regret your stay.

the best place to stay in bellingham
By ,
Bellingham is a truly gorgeous city, but is limited on hotel choices. You generally have to choose between either overpriced resort-style hotels or cheap motels on the side of the freeway. The North Garden Inn fills the void between the two. Located on a quiet avenue south of Downtown Bellingham overlooking the bay, the North Garden provides a quaint, homey atmosphere agreeable to any travel situation. I stayed here only one night, but will definitely return and stay longer when again in Bellingham. Since I didn't have a car, I wanted a hotel within walking distance of Downtown. The North Garden is about 1/2 mile from the center of Downtown and all of the great restaurants there. The innkeeper was eager to give advice on sightseeing, dining, nightlife and to answer any questions on the area, all with a genuine desire to help you enjoy your stay all the more. The breakfast was astounding: french toast, fresh fruit, cereals, teas, coffee, a wonderful potato dish, vegetarian quiche and bacon were all offered up promptly at 7am with the beautiful view of the waterfront and distant mountains outside the window. I stayed in a room with a private bath, and was given a very good price, but no matter what room you get, this is a great value all the same. I normally have at least one negative comment about hotels, but can offer none in this situation. The only problem with the North Garden Inn is that the word is somewhat out about it, and you'll sometimes find that all rooms (about 8) are filled so make your reservations early regardless of the season. This would be a great place for a weekend getaway, or for people who are just traveling to Bellingham.

As for the house itself it was in need of some repair, paint ect. The photo we see on the net does the place quite a bit of justice. The location is great. Easy walking distance to anyting you might like to see in Bellingham. The views are good. Though we were not impressed with the house the host ( Jon ? ) was great. He was intertaining, informative, ingaging, gracious, he makes the stay pleasant, and for that we will return. Oh, did I say that he was entertaining.

My Home away from Home
By ,
I can't say enough good things about the North Garden Inn. I am from the Midwest, and when I am visiting the Great Northwest there is just no better place to be, than the North Garden Inn. To start with, there is the gracious Victorian ambiance of the Inn itself, with warmly decorative, comfortable rooms, beautiful sunset views of the bay, and delicious carefully prepared breakfasts. Add to that, attentive, conscientious service, and all of this at very conservative prices. I have truly enjoyed my stays there, and look forward to the next time.
