the best place to stay in bellingham
Bellingham is a truly gorgeous city, but is limited on hotel choices. You generally have to choose between either overpriced resort-style hotels or cheap motels on the side of the freeway.
The North Garden Inn fills the void between the two.
Located on a quiet avenue south of Downtown Bellingham overlooking the bay, the North Garden provides a quaint, homey atmosphere agreeable to any travel situation.
I stayed here only one night, but will definitely return and stay longer when again in Bellingham.
Since I didn't have a car, I wanted a hotel within walking distance of Downtown. The North Garden is about 1/2 mile from the center of Downtown and all of the great restaurants there.
The innkeeper was eager to give advice on sightseeing, dining, nightlife and to answer any questions on the area, all with a genuine desire to help you enjoy your stay all the more.
The breakfast was astounding: french toast, fresh fruit, cereals, teas, coffee, a wonderful potato dish, vegetarian quiche and bacon were all offered up promptly at 7am with the beautiful view of the waterfront and distant mountains outside the window.
I stayed in a room with a private bath, and was given a very good price, but no matter what room you get, this is a great value all the same.
I normally have at least one negative comment about hotels, but can offer none in this situation. The only problem with the North Garden Inn is that the word is somewhat out about it, and you'll sometimes find that all rooms (about 8) are filled so make your reservations early regardless of the season. This would be a great place for a weekend getaway, or for people who are just traveling to Bellingham.
