Nonsmoking rooms? Ha.
By Fabiana Firefly, 07/20/09
We booked a nonsmoking room with a king bed and were knocked over when we opened the door. Because the room had 2 queen beds, not the king we expected, and the stench was unbearable, we went back down to the lobby to question the assignment. We were told that the king bed was not guaranteed and that there were no other rooms available. They offered to spray the room and give us a discount on breakfast. I had already checked the whole town, including Motel 6, and there were no vacancies anywhere. They sprayed the room, so it smelled like cheap perfume and smoke. We also noted that there was an ashtray in the bathroom and a large industrial one on the balcony. Hmmm. So we had no choice. We had to stay and woke up with sore throats and headaches from the second hand smoke. The next morning, when we complained and questioned the $230 charge for the room, the manager on duty told it it was in fact a smoking room, and that we should have been assigned to a different one the night before. She wanted to give us a voucher for another night. Right, like we ever want to stay there again. Eventually she agreed to take 50% off the charges. What a nightmare. I will never spend another night in a Doubletree hotel.

Excellent Service & Stay!!!
By Kimberly, 09/29/08
This was a very nice hotel. It was very clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very nicely furnished, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We attended an event located at the hotel, and it could not have went more smoothly. Also, upon leaving, I happened to forget my diamond earrings in the room, and when I called and asked if they could be mailed to me, I certainly wasn't expecting them on my doorstep the following afternoon, but the hotel had overnighted them to me. I just cannot say enough about this hotel and its staff. Plus, it is in close proximity to many area attractions.

One of our favourite hotels in California
By Hot, 01/11/07
My husband and I are frequent travellers and stay in hotels at least twice a month. We love the excellent service we have received everytime we have stayed at the Doubletree. The entire staff is professional and courteous, the rooms are extremely clean and the food is great also. Since we are Hilton Gold members we often ask for and get an upgrade to a suite, which all feature huge jacuzzi tubs...which can really make your night after a long journey. If you visit in the summer months, there is a really nice pool area and a hot-tub

Will never come back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/06
First the 2 persons at the front desk were not trained to be there: They did not tell us that our room was so far away by foot... when it was an easy access at the other end of the hotel and parking our car nearby. Surprise for the kind of price and class the room had no mini-bar, no safe box, no cable for internet access... I tried WiFi (the network recommended in the Hotel brochure called ‘hhonor’ did not existed.. I called the operator.. The name of the network was ‘dren’ but the login and PW given did not work.. Bravo for the weekend without email at a Hilton class of Hotel! The space under our door was more than an inch and we could ear the conversations, the vacuum, the vending machine, the ice dispenser etc.. Thank you for watching those kind of details. Coming back at midnight we were obliged to walk from our back parking true the sprinklers simply not adjusted and aimed at the walk! Nice no? No real sugar only artificial sugar.. Coffee tested like water, why not change the brand! After 30 minutes waiting we carried or heavy luggage ourselves to the car. A charge of $40 from the Bacchus restaurant was on our bill. We did not go to the restaurant! Comparing this Doubletree to an Holiday Inn: same kind of features and service for much more money! No more. Thanks.

Don't expect to sleep well
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/05/06
We always stay at Hiltons so we thought we would try Doubletree. We never will again. This hotel was very poorly constructed. The walls and floors are not well insulated. We could hear water flowing through the pipes in the wall at all hours. We could hear people talking (at normal volumes) in the halls. We could even hear people walking around in the room above us. We asked the manager to move us to a room on the top floor because the footsteps above us were keeping us awake. Instead of apologizing for any inconvenience, he became argumentative. He told us that our premium room rate did not necessarily guarantee us a quiet place to sleep. After 20 minutes of discussion, he did finally offer us a room on the top floor. But, since it was a "luxury suite" we would have to pay the rate difference, which was substantial. Because of this manager's lack of consideration for the patrons who provide his livelihood, I suggest you find other accommodations.

Close proximity to wine country
By Ryan, 10/02/05
If you want to stay within driving distance of wine country but don't want to pay the expensive price tag of area hotels, then this is a very nice hotel about an hour from the heart of napa and sonoma. The grounds are very well kept, and there is a golf course across the road. There is bus service to and from Oakland and San Francisco Int'l Airports that leaves from the front door several times a day. Highly recommended.

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/24/05
From arrival to departure, this hotel was the best we've ever stayed at. It's centrally located to nearby shopping centers. It's on a golf course which provides guests of the hotel with such perks as a free bucket of range balls. The staff was extremely friendly. They provide such toiletry items as toothpaste & tooth brushes should you forget your own, at no charge. We ordered room service every night and had a blast. Next visit to Wine Country there is no other place I'd rather stay.

Great Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/10/05
First of all, we were allowed an early check in. Very early. Then they gave us a room with a view of the beautiful courtyard, which would usually cost extra. We were on a wine country trip and every morning before we left the front desk would print out mapquest directions from place to place and then back to the hotel for us. The cleaning staff was also great. Beds and pillows were very comfortable.
