WTF?!

I had happened to notice this place when I was here for a pet show and was curious so I went to inquire. They weren't online yet (the young man at the front desk said it was because they were renovating). I asked to see a room and it was fine; nice room, bed, desk & chair, mini- fridge and microwave. I even asked at that point if we could get an extra chair because we like to sit and play cards. I was assured no problem. The rate was good so I booked it for us.
Two weeks later we checked in. That's when I noticed... wait. There are no lamps on the end tables. There's no chair at the desk. There's no mini-fridge and no microwave. This is NOT the type of room I was shown! We went back to the front desk. The woman behind the counter actually argued with me, are you sure this is the place you looked at? Hello? Yes, I'm sure!
What motel, even the cheapest by-the-hour place doesn't have lamps in the room even if they are attached to the wall? We were told they don't have lamps. No lamps? What about a chair for the desk? Oh, we don't have chairs. Excuse me? You have a desk but no chair. And the room I was shown had a mini-fridge and microwave in it. She insisted this wasn't the same place. Excuse me, I know what I looked at, that's why I made a point of looking at it before I made the reservations.
That's when the back peddling started. We can probably find you a lamp. Gee, ya think? What about the fridge and microwave? Oh, but that will cost more. NO IT WON'T. You are going to stick to what you showed me and honor it.
And what about the chairs? Chairs? We don't have any chairs. Funny, when we drove around the back of the motel to get to the "new" room there was a tractor trailer with a bunch of desk chairs sitting under it. Guess what? We wheeled some chairs to our room. But then the A/C didn't work worth a damn (we borrowed a fan from a friend and set a pan of ice in front of it).
This was a singularly horrible experience and I won't give them the opportunity to prove their "renovations" have made any difference. The attitude of all but one of the staff members (the maid who brought us a lamp) was horrible.
