GREAT GETAWAY AT BIG LYNN!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/11
Our room was in the original knotty pine area and it was as clean as a pin! The paint and everything else is fresh and the mountain scenery from our front porch rocking chairs is breathtaking! What a beautiful place! The supper and breakfast included are top notch and the waitress was at our assigned table many times during our dining.to check if we needed anything else! The food was very tasty and served in just right portions! We will return. Our first time was 19 years ago and it's even better now!

What a great mountain getaway!!!!!
By Jimmy W, 5/31/10
We have been coming to this quaint, rustic, mountain lodge for the past 20 years! It is a favorite spot of ours, away from all the hustle and bustle of daily life. The views are spectacular, the people are very friendly and accommodating, and the food is good old home cooking and prepared healthily, and brought to you warm on a hot plate! The new owners are very ambitious about maintaining the charm and quality of the Lodge while trying to make as many updates as quickly as they are able to. I would definitely suggest visiting Big Lynn Lodge as soon as you are able to cause you are in for a real treat!

2010 new owners
By STITCHER GIGI, 4/3/10
Big Lynn Lodge is now under new ownership. They are making some renovatioons to the place and doing a great job! We just had a group retreat there and they were so nice and friendly. We stayed for 4 days/3 nights. You get breakfast & evening meal with your rooms and the food was fabulous! Fresh baked bread and homemade desserts! MMMM. We are already planning to go back for our trip next year! If you have never been there, it is very quiet & peaceful. You will be within 15-30 mins from shopping, gem mining and even Walmart if you forget something. I can't wait to go back!

So disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/25/09
So we arrived to the lodge, and my finace and I were very excited. Only to our disappointment that this place has really been run down. Our room was disgusting, the ceiling was coming off. The bathroom was horrible! I should have known something was gone bad when their public bathroom in the check in office was horrific. I would not recommend this place to others until they decide to round up some money for renovations.

We will return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/19/09
After reading the reviews, we were hesitant to return to Big Lynn and, consequently, stayed at a nearby inn. While in the area, we stopped in at Big Lynn and had dinner. Although we did not stay overnight, our visit proved Big Lynn is the same as always. It is for the traveler who enjoys peace and quiet and taking in the mountain view. We will return.

Good Food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/16/09
my family stayed for 2 nights in one of the condo rooms. it is the newer part. We had no problems and enjoyed our stay. We especially enjoyed the food and service. The first night we had meat loaf with veggies and salad, desert was lemon cake. The second night turkey with veggies, salad and desert was cherry cobbler with ice cream. Breakfast was eggs, bacon or sausage, grits, toast, waffle or pancake. As you can tell we enjoyed the food. The people were so nice, they carried around a baby for a guest so she could eat. We went for the gem mine experience and are glad we choose this lodge.

Time has not been a friend!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/8/09
While we wrote glowing comments in a previous review in 1996, it it sad to say this is not the same place now. Very run down, and since the original owner, Gale died, the family has forgotten what made them a success. There is no longer a family that is cohesive and it is apparent that this quaint little hotel is no longer worth wasting your time and money on. They no longer care! Sad, Sad, Sad.

First & Last Visit!
By Rusty, 10/18/08
No bargain to be had here. The room was neat and clean and OK considering the age of the place and what it is. Nothing fancy about the breakfasts but they were good with at least a few choices. If you like TV dinners, you'll love their evening meals. Everything, including the salads, are prepackaged foods - almost as good as what you would get in a lower class nursing home. Nothing is prepared there - just heated and served. We were there 5 nights and they were already recycling the same meals. Some nights there is a choice between overcooked chicken or baked frozen fish with corn fresh out of the can. Other nights there are no choices. The boiled potatoes were the best thing that I ate there. The pies were good. They got our reservation dates wrong and couldn't find any record that I had paid a deposit for the room. Even after I showed them my receipt, they were still reluctant to give me credit for the deposit that I had made by credit card! Everyone was friendly but terribly disorganized. The overall appearance of the buildings is that they are about to go out of business - run down and not maintained. The American flag displayed on the lawn overlooking the beautiful view was worn out, faded, and badly tattered. Hopefully they will sell the place soon to someone who cares, but I will never know because I will never go back again! I have gone to this area for 30 years and there are much nicer lodges for about the same price. The wine choices are the same as the menu - take it or leave it - and you can't take your own wine in the dining area. The view is beautiful but there are many other places in the area with beautiful views.

Best little vacation ever!
By Pat, 6/13/08
We went here because we were looking for the Swiss Chalet which we had used in 1978 and remembered its impressive views, outstanding, dining, incredible peace, and wonderful opportunity to commune with nature and with each other. When we booked this hotel in 1996 we were suprised and disappointed when it was not the Chalet, as we had not considered that there were other hotels in Little Switzerland considering its size. So we stayed and found it to be one of the best little hotels we had ever stayed in. It was not as unique as the Chalet, but the value was incredible. The reasonable daily price included breakfast and dinner. which were served in a beautiful dinning room that had a spectacular view. The longer you stay the closer they put you to the window seats. Because of that our last few days were spectacular. The meals were real "home" cooking and each was another NC culinary surprise. The people who owned it then were beyond owners, they were true friends. We had a flat tire while there and the owner came out and put on the spare for use while we ate breakfast without any expectation of remitance. Put that in your "Angies List" We have been all over the world and never had that happen. Life has not let us get lose to get back here, but we are planning to return soon. I would recommend this place to any one.
