Holiday Inn La Mesa, La Mesa

We stayed over a long weekend that coincided with Spring Break. We had a first-floor suite that overlooked the parking lot, and to say it was noisy is a vast understatement! The staff were apologetic and moved us to another room the next day. Overall, it was comfortable and more than adequate. Note that I've traveled for many years on a corporate expense account, so am generally used to 4- and 5-star hotels (Hyatt, Hilton at a minimum). We had breakfast at the attached cafe, and it was above the level of Denny's, take it for what it is. We plan to stay there again.

I did not stay at this Hotel But UNFORTUNATELY Ate at their Restaurant. It was Honestly the worst food we have ever had. It is or poor Quality very very Over Priced Dont make the same mistake we did Eat Some Place Else.

This place was really nice... newly remodeled rooms with a modern look, flat screen tv's, granite counter tops, refrigerator in each room and a friendly staff. We stayed here for one week and we had a wonderful time! We will definitely stay here again!

Good room. Liked everything. Clean and they have great staff. We got there late at night and there was no problem. The restaurant with the comp breakfast was great too.

Since this hotel is being remodeled, the room I stayed in was Brand New and extremly clean. It is one of the nicest rooms I've stayed in. They are still going through some of the remodeling and need to finish up the front entrance but other than that, it was well worth it. The best thing about it is that all of the rooms are 100% non-smoking! Also, very easy to get there, right off the freeway.

We have been staying here for off and on for several years. It is convenient to the Alvarado Hospital where I have to go. In the late 80's the first time we stayed, the beds were very hard and uncomfortable but as of last month there has been a great improvement. The rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is adequate but nothing to write home about but then you are not paying outlandish prices for a place to sleep either. Unless things change we will be staying there on future hospital visits.

I was not impressed. I shouldnt have expected to be impressed but this place was way under the bar of my expectations of a 2 star hotel. The customer service was good but the hotel was dingy and nasty. I know they are remodeling part of the hotel but the rest of the building looked as if they tryed to remodel and stopped in the middle. The main elevator was dirty and the hallways were dingy. Our room had a refridgerator and microwave which was nice. Some of the wallpaper was missing and most of the rest of the wallpaper was hastily glued back onto the wall. There was the biggest mystery spot on the carpet and if you walked anywhere near it your socks stuck to it. The water in the shower switched from hot to cold so you had to do the hokey pokey to wash your hair. The beds are also very uncomfortable. I wish that hotels would understand that people stay there to sleep. The deadbolt button didnt work so I had to place my luggage in front of the door to make me feel safer. I also belive there was a pimp working out of the hotel. I saw him every day (3 days) he had a big old cadallac parked in short term parking, and wore a lepord print outfit. He was always walking around outside smoking a cigar.

Most all of the hotels I have seen in Downtown San Diego are over-priced for what they offer, and everything on hotel circle is so loud from the freeway. I don't mind the extra 5 minutes drive to La Mesa. The breakfast is good and the rooms are large and clean. I always ask for the top floor in the back, it is very quiet.

The location is the best. Close to the freeways and restaurants. The rooms are big. Front desk people are very nice and helpful. Quiet as a rule. The coffee offered in the morning needs improvement as it is very bitter. There is a starbucks up the street to save the day. The beds and pillows will do for a night or two. ;) The price is affordable for what you get.

we had a great experience here.the rooms were very clean.the security was good.the pool was a little small but other wise everything was great.the freeway access was very easy to get to also.
