Crummiest Hilton on the Planet
By ,
This must be the worst Hilton property. We spent a weekend "staycation" here and were extremely disappointed. Fortunately we booked with a $70.00 bid on Priceline, though the savings were partially negated by the $16.00 per day fee to self-park. Our room was small, the carpet worn and stained, the furniture mismatched and uncomfortable. No microwave, fridge is $10.00 per day extra. No weekend breakfast. In other words, none of the amenities many other Hotel Circle hotels offer at a much lower cost. On Saturday we left the room at 10:30am. We returned at 3:30pm, hot and tired, ready to relax in our room for awhile, and found it hadn't been cleaned yet. They did offer us fresh towels, however. Don't stay here. Just don't.

Very Impressed !
By ,
I was extremely impressed with this hotel after reading all the bad reviews. Yes, there is a 14.00 charge for parking. Most rates include this charge, if it does not, when you are booking the hotel there will be a paragraph that states "Additional charge of 14.00 for parking may be added to your booking". I didn;t use the internet but my rate of 99.00 per night also included it. It also included breakfast every morning and it is not your typical bagel and cream cheese bar. They had a breakfast bar with eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, different kinds of bread and bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt, milk, etc... The pool was a bit small.. but you are in San Diego, who goes to the hotel pool instead of the beach? The staff was VERY attentive, and do NOT believe tthat you have to reuse the towels, to whoever said that he/she isn't a frequent traveler because we ALL know that every hotel who is trying to be environmentally concious has those flyers that say "If you wish to help us in our effort to help the environment please reuse your towels and hand them in the bar, if you prefer new towels please leave them on the floor and they will be picked up and laundered" same thing with the linens. We always had fresh towels and bath supplies (lotion, shower cap, shampoo, conditioner etc). The bed was very comfortable, the TV was a nice size, the decor was modern and friendly. The only thing that caught my attention was a raindow (gay pride)flag in front of the hotel, right next to the american and california flag... weird place to display your preferences but who are we to judge right? I would deffinitely stay here again.

Beware!!!
By ,
My daughter stayed here with her friends, check in was a nightmare, and they had to pay a mandatory fee of $18.00 for valet parking, when you pay $140.00 for a one night stay, you would think that parking would be free. very disappointing.

A Great Hilton!!
By ,
I do not often review hotel stays and post them on the internet, but I felt the reviews here were not at all indicative of my stay at this great Hilton. The front desk employees are top notch. They were extremely helpful and they never tired of my endless questions about San Diego. They take great pride in their city and their hotel. I had a special need for housekeeping-I am allergic to feathers-they traded out all the linens to provide me the perfect set-up for my stay. All the comforts of home. The restaurant food was very good and I enjoyed the breakfast very much. The rooms are lovely and bright. Try this Hilton and you will see first hand how special it is.

Ugh! I will NOT be back.
By ,
This is the second bad Hilton I've stayed at in my 9 days in California. (San Francisco Hilton on O'Farrell was the other.) The room was really muggy and damp when I first arrived, and the comforter smelled horribly on my first night. If you think you might have a decent view, you'll be very disappointed. Rooms facing the front of the hotel have a lovely view of the highway and car dealerships across the street. If you are looking to rely on the shuttle for nearby transportation, forget it. The shuttle onsite is contracted out to do runs to the airport, which would be fine, but guests of the hotel can not use this service. The airport run is a priority, so if you happen to need the shuttle for a nearby drop off, you're pretty much out of luck. Everywhere I wanted to go was within walking distance, but I was NOT fond of the front desk implying that I should just walk. Maybe crossing over a major highway in the dark in an area I'm not familiar with isn't something I want to do. As a hotel, it's not up to you to suggest that to me. I didn't feel welcomed in the least, and I will NOT be returning when I attend another class in June. The only positive about the hotel was that the gym had new equipment and wasn't too tiny.

A bad night
By ,
I've had 2 bad experiences in arow at this hotel so I am now officially done with this place. After an awful experience I was cohearsed to come back.Promises were unfullied. it started with the key configuring device acting up, the pool was filthy and my dinner was less than adequate. The experience ended with no hot water in the morning. I'm done staying here, there are other hotels close by that i'll try ....sorry hilton I love you guys but not this place!!

Priceless
By ,
I was not impressed with this hotel at all. I was told by the person who handled my reservation that this hotel had recently been through a major renovation. After staying just one night (I had to leave) I can only wonder what it was like before the place was gutted. The lobby waa nice but in the middle of the night I had bed bugs all over me! it was the most creepiest feeling I've ever had. The staff is not very warm, cold is a better word. No particulars it just seemed like no one cared. When I checked out there was nothing, no sorry or oh no! how can we get you stay? I was handed my bill and told "here ya go" other people had the same problem I did and checked out earlier also. This hotel needs more than just a lobby renovation.

Location did me in
By ,
Coming into town to visit clients is one thing we all have to do from time to time.If the hotel you stay at has poor service it makes a cross country trip tough. I had 3 service issues at this property. One, my key it did not work and after the second try I asked for someone to come up with me. A bellman let me in and promised to bring me up a KEY! Well that never happened, so before going out to dinner I got a new key from a clerk who finally took care of me. I asked for a 6am wake-up call and got one at 5.00 am. After one night I got a bill slipped under my door and I had to go down and say I had a two night stay. The next morning when I had no bill I went down to desk. Now they had me staying another night. I had to explain to the manager what had happened because at first they were wanting to charge an extra night on my card for early check-out!! in the end it all got straighten out but what a hassle. I don't go to the MB area but once a year but I do know I'll stay at another hotel next time.

***Misleading Promotion*** Double Base Points
By ,
Hilton Double Base Point is misleading. They only give regular base points and an equivalent bonus points. Base points are more valuable since they accumulate towards the next tier level. The definition is buried in the Terms and Conditions. Hard to believe that they didn't think people would be mislead. Of course they can always say you should have read the 15 pages of their Terms and Conditions. I am sure everyone one of their patrons reads that right before they book a room.

Check it out before checking in
By ,
The hotel was good as far as the room goes, but there are other things that make a stay here a little difficult. Getting to the hotel was challenging in navigation of the streets. Sharp turns and vague lanes means you need to pay attention or you can miss a turn or two. Parking was hard in that the spaces are small and room to maneuver is lacking. The hotel is under construction when I was there, so getting to the elevators that will take you from the parking garage to the lobby was like waking through a construction zone. Hopefully it will be done soon. During the day, there was alot of work on the rooms was going on, there was considerable noise of drilling and construction. Food was good, but I was surprise to see spinach eggs since we were going through the spinach contamination at the time. Mention of the wisdom of this to the staff seems to have gone unheeded. See if the rennovations are done before you stay.
