8 reviews for Hotel Midtown, Atlanta
Conveniently Located
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/01/09
Walked to Piedmont Park and Dogwood Art Show. Artsy neighborhood and restaurants nearby. Our room was clean and got maid service by noon each day. Bathroom was roomy and looked as if it had been renovated lately. Great looking lap pool and dressing room. Fitness room had elliptical, stationary bike, treadmill, chest/back machine, rowing machine and no one but me using it. Guests are charged $15 a day for parking and you can park your own car. It's actually a public parking deck. Guests park on the roof and you walk down one flight of stairs to the elevator, so take into account. Valet was helpful with directions to dining and businesses nearby. Read several bad reviews and was expecting worst, but looks as if they've made some changes. This was least expensive hotel downtown and was a good bargain.

Shabby Hotel With Great Restaurant
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/25/08
The Hotel was bad.... Shabby, outdated, unclean, musty, and in need of serious inerior design work. However, Mojito's, the Cuban Restaurant inside is wonderful. I ate there 3 nights in my 4 day stay. The soft-shelled crab appetizer is great. Piccadillo, Cubano Monster Pork Chop is to die for...and many great deserts to choose fro. I can see why the chef, Lucy Alvarez has won awards... If you like the Hotel to be great...stay somewhere else and visit the Restaurant here, Mojito's....

pleased with the experience
By Lindsey, 03/02/08
We stayed here for 2 nights and were pleased with our experience. It is less than a minute walk to the MARTA station which can take you anywhere in Atlanta. There were restaraunts and various bars within walking distance. The front desk can give you a list of close restaraunts. There was a liquor and beer store that took about 5 minutes to walk to. The room was fine, nothing fancy. They did mischarge our credit card, but they corrected the problem promptly. They have a shuttle that will take you anywhere within 2 miles. There is a parking fee for valet or self parking each night. Most, but not all of the bars around the area were gay bars.

Worst hotel experience
By new user, 01/19/08
They charge my credit card the hotel fee when my company already paid for the room. Had no room service but was charged for that too. Was locked out of my room every night I stayed there (4 nights) Tried a total of 8 different cardds to get into my room, but the front sedk kept giving me ones that din't work. Was told to wait in front of my room for rpairman to let me in my room. Waited 30 minutes and a security guard finally came by and told me I had to leave. Instructed to him that I was locked out of my room, and he said to go see front desk. After I explained to him I already had and had bee waiting for half an hour for locksmith he went and founbd one to open my door. Had the exact same problem the next night. Two friends who were staying at the hotel with me had the same charges to thier cards as well. This was not a single occurance. Do not stay at this hotel. 3 people charged for room service they never ordered. Poor service. Bad food in the downstairs lobby. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Still trying to get the hotel to remoe the $300 charge from my credit card.

Service Without A Smile
By Ebony, 11/16/05
This past weekend I was in Atlanta, GA for a wedding and had reserved two nights at the Wyndham Midtown. I have stayed there in the past and had not previously had any problems. First when I arrived at the hotel I was greeted by the valet service, who educated me that guests could not park their own car, but that they HAD to use the valet service, which meant if the valet service was backed up with cars, I would have to wait for them to bring me my car, when I could have just as easily walked into the parking deck and gotten it myself. When I entered the hotel to check-in, I was appauled at the rudeness of the clerks. They waited to acknowledge my presence, and when they did, I was made to feel as if I was imposing upon them, by wanting to check-in. The room that I was assigned to was nicely decorated and very clean, however, the water in the shower kept going in and out. The employees in the housekeeping department and in the restaurant were very friendly and accomodating. On the night of the wedding, I called down to the valet service thirty minutes prior to my expected departure. When I got down stairs I was told that two couples were ahead of me. I waited in the lobby on my car for about 20-25 minutes, needless to say I was late for the wedding. But as a consolation, the Valet manager took all of my valet parking charges off of my bill. Overall I would say I liked the hotel, but the employees need to be a bit more friendly, and patrons should have a choice of whether or not they want the valet service.

Great Staff Ready t o help
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/20/05
The Staff was wonderful very helpful and eager to please. The room was noce but nothing over the top. Bathroom shower would not turn off and there was a cracks in molding on tiles. The windows had a white "film" that obstructed view. It was easy to get to and near a lot of resturants and the train so if you did not want to get car out of parking deck you could.

Beautiful Room, Great Price
By Matt and Patty, 05/18/05
For a fantastic price, my parents got to stay in a very large, beautifully decorated room on the corner of an upper floor looking out onto Peachtree and 10th Streets and the Margaret Mitchell house. They felt very special, and that translated into an overall great trip. They were also within walking distance of both Piedmont Park and our apartment, so it was very convenient. The only downside was the high price of parking at the hotel.
