Resort employee stole our credit card number
By ,
The first major issue I have with this resort is that an employee there stole our credit card number from the resort check-in computer and charged $10,000 on our card all over town in a matter of 3 days. We only used this card to pay for the room, nothing else. Everything else was put on a totally different account. That is how we are positive it was taken by a resort employee. Previous to the room charge on this account there was no activity on it for months before. Right after we checked out from the Palm Aire, our card started getting used that night and 2 days after totaling up to $10,000. It's scary that you can't trust to use your credit card at a resort without someone stealing the number and making their own card with it with their name on it. My second issue, was the staff. They were unprofessional, rude, had bad attitudes, most of them were clueless and not helpful, and didn't seem like they wanted to be there at all. The only smiles and "good mornings" we encountered were from the cleaning crew. The staff at the front desk, activity center, cafe, etc.....forget it! Not pleasant! My last issue, the room. They put us in a room in the building connected to where you check in. If you get a room over there (the short 3 story building) ask for one in one of the towers. The rooms in the 3 story building are very outdated and old whereas the rooms in the towers are very new, remodeled, updated, etc. They should remodel and update the short building to be the same quality as the rest of the towers before renting them out. We had small TVs that we had to pull our chairs up close to watch to avoid getting eye strain. By now, the TVs should be updated to something a little bigger for the living room area at least. At this day in age you'd think they'd have flat screens and not the old box style TVs. Apparently they do in the tower rooms, but not in the building we were placed in. We never could get the remote to work to the TV in the living room. Most of our lightbulbs were burnt out so we had to call to get new ones put in when we first got there. Before we even went to our room I asked at check in if we could a room in one of the tower buildings that were closer to the pool. The front desk lady was rude about it stating that I needed "to specify a certain building when I book my room next time." How would I know what building to stay in if we've never been to the resort? I've never booked a resort online to where I had to specify my own choice of building. The only thing we were allowed to choose was the number of bedrooms we wanted online. Once we got there and noticed that all the tower buildings were closer to the pools we asked if we could be in one of those because it was easier with small children to step right out the door and there's the pool. If you're in the short check in building (the one not shown on their website) then you have to walk across the street in the resort to go to the pool areas. That was a pain to do all week with small children. I explained to the lady why I was inquiring about changing our room location before we even went up to ours and she was rude and short to the point, basically blaming me that that was what we booked. There are 2 bedroom rooms in the tower buildings as well. I booked a 2 bedroom room, not a specific building!!!!! She didn't care to understand or even listen to what I had to say. And I know we paid the same as what the rooms in the towers were after speaking to other guests. So they can't use the "you get what you pay for" statement to us. That was the warm welcome we got upon checking in. And for those of you who need the internet while there on business and such, it's SLOW!!! They shouldn't advertise it as highspeed, it's aweful! You'll eventually lose your patience and give up. Just go swimming instead, the pools are nice and clean at least. We will never return to this resort and will see to it that our friends/family don't either.

Absolutely Great Getaway
By ,
We just returned from a few days stay in this lovely resort. My children just did not want to leave. We wish we had more time to stay but did not. I would definitely visit the resort again. Everyone - the guests and staff -was so friendly. The rooms were very nice. I loved the fact that the rooms had everything you needed. I would not want to stay at a hotel again. Everyone should visit this place at least once. You will not regret it. I am still thinking about the fun we all had.

Excellent Resort
By ,
I don't know why or how anyone would write a bad review about this resort. The place is beautiful, upkept very nicely. One of the buildings was being renovated while we were there and 1 pool was closed because of it, but there were 2 other pools, so it wasn't a problem. The rooms were beautifully kept, very clean. There's a bar and cafe by the pool where you can get sandwiches, snacks, ice cream, some groceries (more for if you need something urgently, as it seems to be a bit overpriced). Would definitely go back to this resort - staff was all very friendly as well!

We want to go Back!!
By ,
This is a great resort to stay at. We stayed for 7 nights in the Flamingo bldg. 2Br with 2 bathrooms. The furniture and room was immaculate. Everything was updated. three tv's (1 in master BR, 1 in 2nd BR and i1 in LR). Kitchen was stocked with all the utensils needed, cups, dishes, pots, pans, etc. microwave, dishwasher. TThe only thing that bothered us was that you had to run the showers for a while to get hot water....otherwise you were taking cold showers,,,I think it had to do with the jacuzzis in each room.....The room also had a washer and dryer that came in very handy because we washed all our clothes before we went home. Resort is near lots on restaurants on the main stip Powerline Road. Indoor car racing and gameroom nearby. 5 minture drive to the beach. Pools were big and beautiful. We would definately stay here again. Just be prepared to say no when they insist you take their offer for free breakfast and cruise tickets (to hear the timeshare sales pitch).. Just say u are there to vacation and are not interested. They will call your room too so don;t answer their calls. LOL This was no problem for us we simply said not interested and they left us alone. 1/2 hr drive to Miami. 2hr drive to the Keys. 15 min. drive to Las Olas Blvd. main strip in Ft. lauderdale....Must eat at Spazio on the Main strip...excellent food and entertainment.

Honeymoon
By ,
Checking in was fine. Room was ok.But when we had to leave for a family emergency. We had a problem recieving our money back for the days we never spent there. For over three days no one new who could give us an amswer as to what our total charge was to be for a 2 hour stay. We read the reviews before we left but still wanted to give them a chance. Also the furniture was old, bed was hard. I would only recommend this place for young people who will not be spenting much time in there rooms.

BETTER THAN I EXPECTED
Because I had read the reviews here before I booked my trip, I was pretty reluctant to do so but never the less I did anyway and I am glad to say I was far from disappointed. This place was great. I was there for 5 days, stayed in the Presidential suite in the Sable building. It was great. I thought the hot water wasn't working at one point and within 20 mins of calling for maintenace they were there. The one thing that I was disappointed by was I saw a couple roaches in the unit. No WIFI connections. Outside of that everything was great.

Avoid the Concierge desk, you don't want the Timeshare Pitch
By ,
My husband was checking in while I went to the concierge desk and spoke with "DIDI from NJ". I just wanted to find a place to go to dinner, and she just wanted me to attend the "timeshare breakfast"!After 15 minutes of me saying "not interested" & her droning on & on about how you get a free breakfast, my husband agreed to this, just to shut her up. Sunday morning @9 we are booked to speak with a Wyndham Rep. Breakfast was danish in a bag w/coffee. It was agreed that it would only be 45 minutes. After 1 hour & 15 minutes we said we were not interested at this time in spending $2500 annually, and pay $39,000 up front so we can have vacation points, but if he would give us something in writing so we could review it we would consider it. He slammed to book shut and stomped off. That was are 1st 12 hours at the Palm Aire. The newer buildings are nice, but the bulk of this resort is old units. If you stay here, request the Fountain or the Sable. Those are the bldgs. in their ads. If you call the front desk for help, they don't do that. (Maybe if you buy the timeshare points they do, we did not try that) The area immediately outside the resort is seedy, please know that when you go out & about. I would not stay here again.

Don't expect service
By ,
The apartment was very tired looking. It was very dirty and we could not get anyone to clean it properly. We ended up cleaning the windows ourselves as they were so filthy you could scarcely see out of them. Bed linen had holes in it, curtains were dirty and torn, towels worn out. Bathroom had mould in it.

Great Resort
By ,
We had a ball at the Wyndham Palm Aire... Loved the suite and the facilities. We spent lots of time by the pool and in the fitness room. I'd love to see a restaurant on the premises and free kids activities, but there are plenty of places to eat in the neighborhood.
