My wife and I have been to Lake Placid on severl occasions. We first stayed at the Mirror Lake Inn which was very nice, but when we discovered The Interlaken, there was no going back anywhere else. We stayed there at least on 5 different occasions. We liked it so much we bought a house there!
The inn is lovely. Wonderfully decorated without all the prerequisite Adirondack animal trophy heads on the walls (though I think there was one).
The staff was gracious, indulgent and accomodating, and Chef Richard prepared a vegetarian, no-onion meal for me that was delicious.
Though we were edging into winter, one of our rooms was quite hot, and the other was above the bar. Due to a wedding party downstairs, it was quite loud and no sleep was to be had our last night. But that was not the fault of the inn - just the partiers.
All four in our group highly recommend this inn.
