Oceanview Motel, San Francisco

We went there for GAY PRIDE! The room Was Bigger than I thought, so that was a very Nice Surprise . The Muni was right outside the motels door way but it was surprisingly Quiet. I loved the whole room experience, Took the N Judah Train all the way into Downtown SF. We will Stay There Again.

We called and told them we were arriving earlier than expected, around 2am. Check-in time is at 11am and we were told that's fine, you can ring the night bell and check in early & we won't charge you. We get to the window and the same guy I talked to the night before says, "I'm sorry you were misinformed but if you wanna check in now you have to pay for another night". We checked in only because it was in the middle of the night and we didn't have anywhere else to go...we get to the room...there's a weird, mildew like odor. The linens were worn and smelled. All of the pillow cases had stains, the towels were dingy and most of the threads loose, and we didn't want to take our socks off because the carpet was a little suspect too. Luckily we brought a sleeping bag, so we laid it out over the bed and pillows and just blasted the heater (the one thing that was decent about the place) The tv and fridge didn't work, even though the fridge looked new. There's no direct ocean view and you can hear everything going on outside. There are plenty of other motels with similar/comparable pricing. We switched to another motel a few blocks down and its a remarkably HUGE difference and we're paying the same price per night. I would never stay here again and don't reccomend it, even if you just need a place to sleep...driving for hours and being exhausted still didn't make me wanna sleep there.

My wife and I have stayed twice at the Ocean View. On our first visit, our room overlooked the street and the sound of the streetcar was a little disquieting. After a while, it was pretty neat. The second stay, we had a room that overlooked the parking area. It was quieter. The room was clean, but there was the odor of curry in the halls. On the corner is a wonderful place to eat called Java Beach. It has an eclectic atmospheret and the food is great. Up the Great Highway is the Cliff House Restaurant – perfect for Sunday brunch. Parking can be problematic, but there is no charge.

What is with this 2 star hotel increasing it's rates from $55 to 5 times that in a couple of years? Totally not worth mid 200's a night - there are much nicer places to stay for that price.

When I came into the place, there was a coke can on the window sill and some of the curtains were falling off the curtain rod. I then became afraid to touch anything. The people at this motel don't like to clean. Wouldn't go there ever

In planning our trip to SanFrancisco my husband and I decided to take a chance on an out of the way hotel....WE are really glad we did! We had the best time there, the staff is very helpful and are full of really helpful info(we were turned on to a really good italian place, we will definitley eat there again) it was quiet, clean and the best thing it was CHEAP! but so worth the money! Thank you so much to the staff you made our visit worth while!

I was a guest anlong with my family and we had a doctor's apt. the next morning at U.C.S.F. We walked to the beach. Everything was clean. The service was excellent, the room was very comfortable and the location was close to the hospital. We really had a good time. I hope we can go there again.

This hotel was fine. It is cheap - Sure it is not a 4 star hotel but the price is right. You can stay in the busy city for an estimated $280-$350 a night for a nice room or you can stay here for $55-$65 a night and get your basic room. All you really are doing is sleeping there anyway. If you new to California you spend most of your time outdoors- so it works out great. The Muni Stops right in front of the hotel and you can take it to the Bart and then grab a bus to Fishermans Wharf. It is so awesome. I have been coming here once a year for a week at a time for 3yrs now. It is only around $380 for the whole week stay. For a 2 night getaway I would also reccommend the peaceful, relaxing Pacifica not that far. Although you will need a cab to get there. Hope this helps out a little!

Just found out Bradley Nowell from Sublime died here. How Sad. I guess this really irrelavant, but it is a weird fact about the motel. It is decent for the price
