I can't wait to "get away" there again....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/25/11
When I first arrived at the hotel, I was instantly impressed with their lobby. After going through a very pleasant and speedy check - in we arrived in our first floor suite. It was fantastic! My 9 year old son called it "a room with a pool" because he loved the jacuzzi in the room. The HUGE California King bed was so dreamy, and the walk in shower with multiple heads was better than any jazuzzi I'VE ever had. The only drawback for me was that I would have liked a pool, but in all hoesty I wouldn't have had time to use it this trip anyway. There's aways next time....I will definitely be back.

STAY AWAY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/15/07
Ive had cruise ship cablins bigger than these "suites". Dirty, small, walmart furniture and paintings and poor service. The non smoking room smelled like smoke and there is no closet, no iron or any other normal accomodations. The price was outragous.

Would rather sleep in the car
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/25/07
Although the employees were friendly, the room was fairly clean, and we enjoyed getting so many channels on cable TV--more than one normally gets in a hotel room--we found this to be a two-star hotel at best. We stayed on the second floor (which looks nothing like the first) in beds that were rock-hard and gave us backaches. The furnishings were dingy. We had a small, old-fashioned, portable TV that was hard to see. In short, the room was nothing like the pictures the hotel displays on its website. Worst of all, we had an air conditioner that simply would not stay on. Instead, it went on and off noisily all night, making it impossible for us to sleep. There was no way to set it so that it would run constantly. And when we finally set it to "off," it went on every five or ten minutes anyway, only louder and stronger. In the end, we had to unplug it, and we spent the night in unbearable humidity and heat. We were charged $134.00 plus tax (weekend rate) for that unpleasant experience. Not surprisingly, when we checked out (no express check-out), the clerk didn't ask how our stay was or if everything had been to our satisfaction.

Will return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/15/07
The nicest place to stay in Troy, NY. Close to the schools; RPI and Russell Sage. The first floor is beauitful and one can see that they are presently modernizing the other two floors. An upscale hotel is in process.

Classy, comfortable hotel in Troy, NY
By CindyP, 12/28/06
This is NOT a Budget motel. There are not a lot of options if you want a hotel room in Troy, New York. Normally, visitors end up staying in a nearby town. This time, I was lucky enough to stay at the Franklin Square Inn & Suites. Located in downtown Troy, NY between Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Russell Sage College, and close to Emma Willard School, the Franklin Square Inn is a comfortable, nicely appointed hotel offering a wonderful choice for business travelers and parents with children attending school here. We enjoyed our suite which was beautifully decorated, included a king size bed, whirlpool tub, sofa bed, desk and mini fridge. We made use of the free wireless internet connection in our room and also the computers (with attached printers) that were set up on roomy desks and available for all in the lobby. The lobby was one of the nicest I've experienced. It was comfortable, inviting, bright and cheerful. With plenty of free newspapers on hand, two fireplaces and wall-mounted flat-screen TV, big comfy couches, and tables, the computer desks and more. I spent several hours reading and enjoying the complimentary coffee and juice available all day. (There's also a complimentary continental breakfast that I had planned to take advantage of but never did.) The staff were all very accommodating and friendly. The room was kept clean and well-supplied with towels and toiletries. We especially appreciated the abundance of towels and extra pillows waiting for us (without having to ask for them). A wall-mounted hair dryer and shaving mirror were included at the vanity, and iron and ironing board were in the closet. Franklin Square Inn & Suites is connected to Franklin Plaza Ballroom so they are especially tuned to guests staying for special events. We were just there for the holiday and not part of a larger party. Yet we were treated wonderfully. We will definitely stay again.
