Pay the extra money for Holiday Inn

We stayed at the Tomahawk for about a month because of new job placement. First impression when you pull up and see the building is "wow...", and not in a good way. The building needs some serious work, and just gives you an "unsafe feeling". The only good thing I have to say about this place is that the staff is pretty friendly. There's lots of pets in the office, andof course that causes a smell. The parking lot is ridiculous. The parking spots in the middle have uneven lines all over the place. I guess no one can figure out if each spot is supposed to fit one or two cars. Which results in chaotic parking making it extremely hard to get out of the lot, get into it, reverse, and park. The lot is so small even if there's only one space left you will never be able to park your car in it without hitting someone elses. Just park on the street. We stayed on the second floor. The stairs are literally falling apart, and rusted too. I had to jump over a stair everyday because the concrete on it was loose and falling, the whole thing was loose. They are all like that. I sure wish they would fix that someone is going to get hurt. They use metal keys, and there is no security deadbolt in the room. Carpet, furniture, tv...so outdated. Everything looked pretty clean at first glance, and it didn't take long to notice just how filthy the carpet is. My baby crawled around on the floor for not even 10 minutes and their feet and knees were black. Disgusting. The coffee pot is not actually a coffee pot, but a water heater. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls. On more than once occasion I heard scratch noises in or on the ceiling. I can't say for sure what that's about, but certainly not pleasant. If you have a dog don't expect to find any grass closer than the park on Federal. There's a "field" down the road where people take the dogs, and it is covered in broken glass. No grass anywhere near the motel unless it's someones lawn. Housekeeping comes every morning so if you're staying for more than a few days it gets extremely annoying. The bed is rock hard. The place definitely doesn't seem very safe, and it's unnerving that there isn't more security in the rooms. Maybe this place was nice once, but it is definitely not somewhere I would reccomend. You'd be better off paying the extra money for a chain hotel, and having a comfortable and pleasant stay.
