The staff were very helpful and tried very hard to put a brave face on a hotel that looks great from the outside but whose rooms/services are just not up to the standards you would expect of this chain.

Value for money but.....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/18/06
The staff were very helpful and tried very hard to put a brave face on a hotel that looks great from the outside but whose rooms/services are just not up to the standards you would expect of this chain. The whole place has a 70's vibe and doesn't look like any money has been invested in the non-public areas of the hotel since that decade. The 'gym' was unusable, the restaurant slightly depressing and very gloomy, candlelight may be nice but if you are alone and maybe want to read a book whilst eating, forget it. The food was OK both in the restaurant and via room service. My bedroom was clean and confortable but the bathroom badly needed a refresh/makeover and the fridge was so noisy I had to complain. The internet cafe was good and cheap but you have to be prepared to tweak their PC's if you want to do any worthwhile work on them. The hotel is in a slightly run down part of town but I felt safe and secure the whole time I was there. I seemed to be the only European in the place during my stay and this Hotel does a huge trade in weddings and is popular with native Pakistani's who are visiting Islamabad from elsewhere. It isn't the Serena or the Marriott but neither are its prices!

Will go again!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/30/06
We stayed at this internationally rated Hotel for 6 nights. We had originally prebooked a room with 2 double beds but were disappointed to find that this had been given to someone else!Still I managed to negotiate complementary breakfast for our whole stay as compensation. The rooms were comfortable but dated and in need of some modernisation .Ensuite bathrooms had poorly finished tiling and were not as spotless as required.Staff were friendly and attentive.A bargain @60$ a night but definitely a 3* hotel.Location very central but in a run down part of town.Gym badly equipped with semi functional machines.Breakfast and food average but clean and well presented. In summary, this hotel has seen better days and although not in the same league as Marriot or Serena still offers international standards at bargain rates.

Overpriced and dated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/20/05
The (overwhelmingly male) staff do their best, and from the outside this looks like any other Holiday Inn around the world. But step inside, and one is transported back to the 1970's, in a depressing sort of way. Rooms and public areas are shabby and tastelessly decorated. Furntiure and fixtures are flimsy. The "gym" is a small room where a few pieces of equipment are gathering dust. The restaurant is quite formal and not very inviting for a quick snack or just coffee. Breakfast buffet is uninspiring, at least the Western section, although the "Pakistani omelette" they make is spicy and satisfying. Rack room rates are absurdly high. There are many guest houses in Islamabad that are far better value.
