Can't wait to go back
Taking a family of five there was not cheap but well worth it. The facilities are clean; no moldy smell, no peeling paint, etc. The grounds are manicured. I saw no litter, ever. There are activities all day, and almost all are included. They have nice tennis courts and a real nice golf course. There is an extra fee for that but it was one of my best experiences. My caddie - "Michael" - was a really good caddy and made it a really fun round so I gave him a nice tip. All I had to bring was my shoes and a glove - I also brought along a bag of balls.
They don't heat the pools in JA and it had been cold the week before we went so the water was a bit chilly but it warmed up while we where there. This Breezes is age 14 and older, which I liked. I like little kids, but when on vacation a bunch of out-of-control little ones can terrorize a pool and undo the restful effect I'm looking for. We didn't have that at Breezes. All of the guests we met were really nice and we made some nice friends.
If you choose to wander beyond the resort's property line on the beach, there are plenty of vendors ready to sell you stuff, but on the property nobody bugged me, not once.
This was our first time at an all-inclusive. We stayed at a nice villa down the road before going to Breezes. While the all-inclusive was pricey per night per person, the value to me was that other than golf, I didn't - couldn't - spend cash on anything I needed. This made the stay there SO much more relaxing! The drinks, food, etc. were really good and there was never a wait, even though this was in the first week in January and they were pretty full. They had a really good reggae band one night and a fun "audience participation" game show kind of thing another night.
We ate one night in the Japanese restaurant, and then the next night in the Italian - their fine dining - restaurant. Both were really good. But even the food at the big buffet was always really good. The only caveat is, if you're trying to lose weight, don't go! The abundance of really good food and drink makes that pretty hard.
I almost forgot - scuba (costs $70 to get trained), sailboat ride (included), reggae-size (included, see photo), "rum-mixology" class (included) where we got REALLY silly by the end....these are just a few things they offered. They also offered transportation into a club in Ocho Rios for the younger ones.
For those getting married - they have a real pretty little area for weddings.
We loved it - my wife and I and three kids, aged 18 - 21. Thank you, Breezes, for a good time! I'm sure we'll see you again.
