Blue Waters Inn, Speyside

Journeying up to Speyside inhibitions begin to melt. Arriving on the ridge overlooking the beguiling mantra of blue waters,cupped in the palm of nature's most lush foilage & avian cacaphony, you are transendentally intoxicated. Blue Waters Inn is for the minimalist, the soul seeking refuge in nature's tranquility. The accomodations are clean, the staff friendly but not familiar, the setting simultaneously serene and invigorating. You can have a room sans electronic technology where you drift off to the most peaceful rest from the lull of the wind and waves. Scuba diving and snorkling opportunities abound. Kayaks are available - gratis, to paddle around the inlet. At night for a little naughty fun skinny dip off the pier, among the illuminated sargeant fish. All meals I have had there were pleasing to the palette, though a bit pricey. Frank's glass bottom boat tours to see the largest known brain coral and other fascinating specimens. You then have the opportunity to swim in the middle of the ocean - I can compare no other experience to this. It's trumph! Hiking tours to Little Tobago offers much visual awe for birdwatchers. Little to no cellphone reception, internet service, or other business ammenities. The perfect retreat. Very tongue in cheek, I say, but the awe of nature.

Place is located at a nice bay. Villas are very nice, regular rooms are just good. No restaurants or comodities around. 1h aprox drive from airport on narrow sinuous roads. Beautifull quiet place to disconnect from world and practice scuba diving or fishing. Beach is good but is not as good as some of the Caribean coast side. Good choice where to expend a long weekend.

They say property is all about Location, Location, Location well that is what Blue Waters is all about. The location is perfect. A near private beach away from all the hustle and bustle (not that there is much of that in Tobago). An idyllic view over Batteaux Bay to Goat island and Little Tobago. The cooling trade winds off the Atlantic and the wake up calls of the Chacalacas in the morning. It is not a 5 star hotel, it does not have televisions or telephones in the rooms but for a vacation that can be a definate plus. The food is good, if you are not expecting hamburgers and fish and chips. Rooms are clean and air conditioned and there are a couple of fantastic bungalows on the beach. The service is not at North American, or European speed and efficiency but you are not in Europe or North America. You are on vacation in the Caribbean and need to relax. It is also fair to say that I have not had any better service on Tobago, including the Hilton. If you want a change from the restaurant there is always a short taxi ride into Charlotteville or Speyside to a couple of the local restaurants.
