Room was poor, rest of hotel was okay though
The location was okay... once you navigate around the busy one way systems of York.
All the public areas of the hotel looked fine, the reception, lounge/bar area, conference room, breakfast hall etc.
However, the room was very poor indeed. I started making notes for a hotel review right there.
It was like something out of the 1970's.... aging carpet, faded wallpaper/paint, patches of black mould and flaking paint in the bathroom. An old white plastic Salora TV which honestly looked like it was from the 1970's too. There was a plughole in the bathroom floor which was quite odd.
There was no sound insulation between rooms.
The floorboards creaked. When the guy next door took a bath at 10:30pm, the water system was ridiculously noisy.
I stayed in 4 different hotels throughout England that week... and this was easily the worse of them.
