Gulfview Hotel - On the Beach,Clearwater, Clearwater Beach

I loved being on the beach side for the money. I read all the reviews before I stayed and I still went for the weekend and the hotel was great. The hotel next door does have loud music all night but I enjoyed it. I will continue to stay there.

this place was a dump! got there mid day and it seemed nice enough until I went up to the room! Oh My God! This place was dirty, sand and stains everywhere. even the elevator was full of sand. Upstairs when the elevator door opened we weren't sure if it was safe to get off. The hallways were dark and had a really bad smell. we started down the hallway and noticed that the doors didn't match, and some of them were all banged up - like there had been several fights in that place, or they had been broken into? anyway - we didn't even make it to the room. We cancelled and left immediately. Our safety was more important.

Clean and comfortable; good staff; excellent maid service. We are a senior couple and stayed a week. The pool and hot tub were very clean as was the whole hotel. I agree that the breakfast is a little sparse, but we were making use of the efficiency unit anyway and our coffee for the coffee maker was replenished each day and we made toast and had our own cereal. The breakfast consists of bagels, cream cheese, jam, pastries, cranberry and apple juice, and coffee. The white sand beach isn't large but it was very nice. We were there during part of spring break week so there were a lot of young people and boats at times but there was still enough beach area to enjoy. The laundry room is large and sunny and clean. Someone said Shephards next door is a dive; we can't agree. We had a very nice buffet dinner in a very pleasant dining room with good service for $22.95 each. There is an IHOP restaurant in the hotel on the other side. We are definitely going back next year.

I think the Econo Lodge is a great place to stay in Clearwater. It's the perfect location and close to everything. We truly enjoyed the staff, location and just the overall experience. The hotel was nice and I give it a two thumbs up!

I recently visited this hotel and my overall satisfaction was poor. The beach in front of the hotel was a disgrace and the hotel nearby (Shepards), which is the main reason why I went there, was a dive. The staff were not overly friendly, the room was not all that impressive. The quality of the room for the price I paid was not equal, I expected a better room for the money. The hotel is not even close to the Clearwater beach and Pier 60--Clearwater Beach's main attraction. No restaurants were close by, just an overall poor location. If a traveler is looking to get into the nightlife of Clearwater Beach, this would not be the hotel to stay at.

The Econo Lodge in Clearwater Beach, FL gets thumbs up from me! I read all these reviews prior to staying here but it didn't stop me! The hotel is making major improvments... the hall floors are tiled and look amazing and they were actually redoing several rooms on the 1st floor and painting the walls in the halls. The heated pool and hot tub were great. We enjoyed the hot tub every night, listening to the waves hit the shore (because you are right on the beach) and also enjoying the live band next door at Shepards Resort! The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Only 1/2 mile from Pier 60 and great restaurants and shops within walking distance. I will definetly stay here again.

We stayed at this econo for 3 nights and we enjoyed it. we were able to party at the bar next store and only have to walk 10 feet back to our room. we got a nice room that looked over the hotel and bar next store and a nice view of the water from the balconey for a really low price. parking lot was small but we walked everywhere. rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. the owner gave us free drink coupons for next store. to stay on clearwater beach for that price was great.

Check-in clerk was extremely rude! Not a place to stay if you like relaxing by the pool and looking out over the ocean. We only stayed for 4 hours before checking out!

We just got back friday night from our stay at the Econo Lodge in Clearwater and I had to take the time to write a review. The staff were very friendly, informative and did their best to make our stay comfortable. The continental breakfast was a bit sparse and could have benefited by a bowl of fresh fruit and gone past 9 am, but that is probably my only complaint. The pool area and hot tub were well maintained and the beach was quite suitable. The big beach and pier 60 are a short walk away! I would highly recommend this hotel and am looking forward to staying there again next year.

I booked an Oceanfront room with Balcony. The balcony faces the parking lot. The oceanfront window looks out into the inlet, on the other side of the inlet is Sand Key Park, on the other side of that is the ocean. There is no white sand beach anymore, I guess the hurricanes washed it away. What little sand there is left was crowded with boaters visiting the clubs on either side of the hotel. not a place to just float in the water or let kids play.
