Very charming and cute

I stayed at the Hotel St. Dominique this summer, which was my first time in Paris! I found it to be very charming, and quaint. It is definately not a "luxury" hotel, but it serves the main purpose which is a room to stay in, but on top of that it has a distincly French feel, which adds to the experience. The rooms are rather small and look like they haven't been redecorated for awhile, but they are very cute, and decorated "French", so for me it was just part of the experience. Although the size of the rooms are not the best, who cares? When you are in Paris you spend most of the time out and about, not in the hotel room. The location is great, a short (but beautiful) walk from the Eiffel tower, and a couple of blocks from a Metro station. There are several small bakeries nearby. The staff was great. The only thing I would complain about, or suggest avoiding, is the there is one room (which I got) that is on the ground level of the courtyard. It does not offer too much privacy, if you open the window people passing by can see into your room, but it also opens right onto the courtyard, so you do have easy access to the patio chairs, etc. So, if you want more privacy ask to not have room 34.
