Courtyard San Jose Cupertino, Cupertino

We were a big extended family attending a wedding. Their hotel event planning manager messed up the dates, gave the group rate to some families and not to others, and refused to give the same rate to some families. Incompetent and inflexible event planning manager. The hotel itself is OK, but that one bad staff member ruined it all. At first we thought the discount from $189 to $59 was a huge discount, and then found out that $59 is only $10 off their regular weekend rate. Whoopee doo! Also, most hotels in the area include free breakfast while this one doesn't.

Being Marriott's gift to the business person, Courtyard is all decked out to help our business away from home. Free in-room internet and computer and printer use available in the lobby as well as free shipping help (call for pickup, labeling, etc.) gave us everything we needed. The room was large enough to work in and the staff was respectful of our privacy, cleaning the room around our schedule. They couldn't do enough to acccommodate my husband's handicaps. They offered to check on him when I left the room and never made him feel like a burden or different. When there was a regional power-outage, they made sure we were OK. The Hotel is right off the highway and convenient to business, restaurant and leasure points of interest. It is in a complex of hotels and restaurants.

Average rooms and service. Feels like a motel that wants to be a hotel. Prices exceed the value during the week. AAA discounts only apply when they "need" guests, which is an example of false advertising.

Likes: Clean rooms. Plenty of parking. Free Internet access worked without any hassles. Friendly front desk staff had 2 well-trained employees (not one) on hand at all times. The usual Courtyard all-you-can eat breakfast (bacon, eggs, sausages for about $11) is served here. Housekeeping took care of all of the basics. Good location: Close to Apple, Symantec, etc. the Cupertino Village Center (with its 10+ Asian restaurants. The Elephant Bar, Florentines, and a Chevron to gas up your rental car are a 3 minute drive away. For a livelier time, plan on a 25 minute drive on weeknights to Santana Row and its chic night life. It is a 5 minute drive from the Valley Fair mall (being remodeled as of early 2006) Prices are very reasonable. Alternatives are the adjacent Hilton Garden Inn, the luxurious San Jose Marriott (a good Marriott that is perhaps 35 minutes from Cupertino in moderate traffic) and the Cypress Hotel, who I think has gone downhill in recent years. Dislikes: The parking lot is rather dimly lit but Cupertino is generally an extremely safe area (tourists might wish to avoid driving through East Palo Alto). My only other complaint is that like many Courtyards, the doors are thin and therefore you might hear people talking in the hallway briefly. But you can get a good night's sleep here.

This is a great hotel. Very centralized to Hwy 85 and Hwy 280. The staff was nice but they did want to clean our room at 8:00am a little early considering we arrived at 2:00am that morning!! Very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Since it is so close to HP Cupertino we will stay there again.

A beautiful location with walking distance to asian shops and resteraunts. I loved my stay in Cupertino, and I was very comfortable at the Marriott.

It's so awful. The outside stinks. The rooms smell of dirty wet dogs. The servicewoman made faces at EVERYONE.
