Cheap price, Quality room.
This is a good place to stay if you're low on cash and looking for a nice room. I stayed here for a night on my way through Pittsburgh last week. The location was convenient - right off of the highway - with good food and shopping locations, including a nice mall, nearby. (By the way, if you've never tried a Primanti Bros. sandwich in Pittsburgh, you're missing out!)
The place was under new management, and from reading these reviews from others, apparently they're doing a good job fixing up the place.
The room was an average motel room (still better than some, I'm looking at you Motel 6), and it was a steal for the price - $31.99 a night for a single-bed room. The staff was nice and helpful, the place was quiet, there was cable TV plus HBO on an unusually-big-for-motels 27" TV, very hot water, tub with a shower, table & chairs, free coffee and donuts/danishes in the morning, and it was 10-15 minutes from both downtown and the airport; overall I'm glad I found this place.
The only negative things I can think of:
- No WiFi access (though I think that's going to change soon - new management is giving the place a full renovation and the clerk told me they were adding wireless and more).
- $10 security deposit for the TV remote if you pay with cash.
- There was a little construction noise from the renovations in the late morning, maybe around 9 or 10am.
And even the bad points I found are pretty much minor or temporary. I got my $10 remote deposit back when I checked out. I'll definately stay here again if I'm ever in the area.
