A nice place to stay for a tight budget
By Andrea, 07/12/09
The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, the beds were a little hard but comfortable. All-in-all a decent place to stay when money is tight.

such a nice place
By eliza h, 07/03/09
I found a nice clean room at a very reasonable price--the other motels in the area had much higher prices. The clerks and maids wereso nice and so friendly--they exemplify "southern hospitality" and went out of their way to give directions, extra towels, etc. I would recommend Family Inns to anyone needing a safe affordable motel room, and themotel is within walking distance to restaurants and within driving distance to many local attractions such as malls, parks, the Knoxville Zoo, and the Smoky Mountains. I will definitely stay there again.

nice and reasonable if all you want is a place to sleep
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/24/08
This is probably what some consider a lower-end motel, but all we wanted was a place to sleep and shower, so it was fine for us. The room was clean, I think we had a lamp that didn't work, but that was the only problem. The staff was friendly and helpful, they directed us to some local attractions. It's close to lots of things. We plan to stay again.

Stay away from West Lafayette,IN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/07
I stayed at the Family Inn in West Lafayette, IN. It was a nightmare from the beginning. I was assigned a room with an exterior exit, which I clearly stated I did not want when I made the reservation. The TV was coming loose from the nightstand and the remote did not work. I tried to call the front desk to let them know about these problems, but guess what? The phone did not work - dead! The bathroom floor was dirty and the toilet was coming loose from the base. As if this wasn't enough, I woke in the middle of the night to the sound of water dripping from the ceiling in my room. There were no blankets provided, and the heat did not work. The people at the front desk were rude, and not at all concerned or apologetic about any of these things. I thought I should at the very least get a discount for the room, but they told me that this would have to be handled by their corporate office and they would contact them. I decided to contact the corporate office myself the following day, and I couldn't believe that they were just as rude, and said that since the remote and phone were fixed in a timely manner, I really couldn't expect any refund. What about the filth, broken toilet, cold room, dripping water in the room? I was most shocked that everyone associated with the hotel was combative, and totally defensive toward me. Their attitude was totally unacceptable.

My Stay at Family Inns of America - Alcoa
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/01/04
My husband, 3 yr. old son, and I checked into this facility at 10:30 p.m. with the understanding that we could have a late check out the next day because my husband had a business meeting in the morning. The gentleman working the desk indicated we could stay until 1:00. At approx. 10:45, the lady working the front desk, Sharon Ebanks, called our room and told us that the employee was wrong when he stated a 1:00 check out and that we would have to leave or she would have us removed. I tried explaining that my son and I had no car, we were 5 hours away from home, and we had no place else to go. She finally did give in and let us stay until 12:30. What difference would another half hour had made to them. It didn't look like they had too many customers beating down there doors to check in. The facility was not all that wonderful but it wasn't super bad either. There were bugs, both dead and alive, lying in the floor. I would not spend my money to stay at this facility again. Ms. Ebanks couldn't even make her mind up who the owner was. First she said she was, then it was her husband, Mr. David Haggett (or Hargett), but amazingly enough, neither of them could refund my money without Cathy Ware, who is supposed to be the controller, and who was conveniently on vacation. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I don't go to motels to be harrassed, threatened to be removed, and treated rudely. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau also.
