Great place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/2/11
My family has visited Lloyds on the River a couple of times over the years. We have always loved it's quaintness. Planing another trip in a few weeks. Like the rooms on the river, clean and comfortable. Price was good also. Close to everything important in the Great Smokey Mountain area including Fontana Lake, Nantahala River, Cherokee, and the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad. Thanks Larry.

Owner's response to picky frog
By Larry, 8/13/10
I'm not sure what hotel this person stayed at but it wasn't Lloyds on the River Country Inn. Without going point by point, I'll say that what she has listed does not represent my Inn. And I certainly have not had a guest come to me with these kinds of problems. Had they, our policy is to make it right on the spot, free upgrade to another room or let them cancel their reservation at no charge. It is to the benefit of the guest to inform the Mgt upon check in about any issues so they can make it right.

Terrible and Run Down
By Picky Frog, 8/12/10
At best this is a half star dog house of a motel. Everything you see on the internet equals false advertising. The rooms are small, the beds are a joke: old flea market frames with the side boards sticking out of the frames and they must have been 40 years old. Part of the ceiling was made of house siding, no kidding. The carpet, well it was almost as clean as a door mat. All the fixtures in the bathroom were ready to fall off the wall and there was no way that the toilet (sand paper) would stay in the holder that was impossible to reach. The pool had more green and brown stuff growing in it than did the river. Everything is old and about to fall apart, or is falling apart. Sorry to insult, but I can't believe anyone would give this dog of a place more than one star. Oh, and the managers could be found by knocking on one of several doors. They were polite enough to explain that key number 110 really meant room number ten. I believe the health department forgot to take a look at the condition of this place. My best advise is to avoid this place at all costs.

BRYSON CITY'S BEST KEPT SECRET *****
By LISA, 3/10/10
We haven't been to cherokee in a couple of years due to relocating too far away. We love the spring Bike Rally and after being referred to Lloyd's the first time, by other bikers, we were hooked. It is a very charming motel with rockIing chairs outside the rooms, lots of little extras which are full of rustic mountain charm. Reasonable priced, comfortable beds and the beautiful river out back. I heard the motel changed hands within the last few years, not sure if this is true or not but the gentleman who did own it, was genuinely nice. On one visit, due to extremely cold weather, on our trip up, It was getting late & we were freezing & had to stop for the night at another motel, forgot to call Lloyd's and arrived a day late. Instead of canceling our reservation or even being angry the owner refused to charge us for the previous day but we insisted he take the money because this nice little country inn was his livelihood. Will definitly go back

Unique and Charming Place
By Ryder, 7/22/09
We try to get away as often as possible (we try a couple times a month) to this beautiful area to ride motorcycles. We've been past this place many times but thought it would be too expensive because of it's location on the river and stayed at the same chain motel in Bryson City. This is now our new home away from home! Clean, comfortable, affordable rooms that not only have a sitting area just outside the room entrance, but an unbelievable (rocking chairs furnished) covered porch from the other door of the room where you can sit and let your troubles float away listening to the river running just yards away in front of you. If you want a relaxing atmosphere, this is the place for you. They even provide picnic tables and outdoor grills near the river for the guests that want to enjoy a cookout in the park like setting between the motel and the river. The pool is great too, with lots of chairs and tables to enjoy the sun. This is a family operated business that works hard at providing the best value for the money. I especially appreciate their efforts since we have a family operated business in Gatlinburg that's been in operation for over 20 years, and know how difficult it is to provide great service at a fair price. I have traveled all over the world and can truthfully tell you this is one of the most enjoyable places I've ever stayed. I've stayed in Hilton and Carlton Hotels that didn't compare to this in cleanliness or service. If you've traveled small towns in Europe or Asia that astound you with character, this place will leave you feeling the same, contented way. Being in the tourist business many, many years, I can tell you first hand that you can't please everyone all the time. Especially folks who don't travel much because they don't have the wide variety of experiences to compare things to. So just check this place out for yourself. If you've enjoyed the comfortable, restful atmosphere of country inns before, you'll LOVE this one! If you make it to Gatlinburg while you're in the area, stop and see us at The Funnel Cake Company too. Tell them "Pappy" sent you. I might just be here relaxing myself !!!!

Never Again!
By James, 10/24/08
We stayed here on the previous reviews given. I don't know what place these people were talking about, but it couldn't have been lloyd's. This place was NASTY! I would not get off the bed without my putting my shoes on because the carpet was filthy. The room was bright all night due to light colored unlined curtains. Bath tub faucet dripped constantly. Stained ceilings.Room smelled was horrible. Did not find owners friendly. No alarm clock in room, we asked for wakeup call, were told they would give, but never did. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!

We loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/21/08
The back porch with the river view made out evening complete after a busy day on the river rafting. The owners are delightful. Restaurants are close by. The pool and the value were grea too. We would definitely go back.
