MYSTIC, CT ECONO LODGE-HOTEL FROM HELL!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/02/09
THE ROOMS WERE EXTREMELY DIRTY AND THE BEDS WERE SO UNCOMFORTABLE AND THE PILLOWS (OR SHOULD I SAY LITTLE LUMPS OF WHITE CLOTH WITH WHO KNOWS WHAT INSIDE...AND EVEN ASKING FOR 3 MORE PILLOWS DIDN'T HELP), THE A/C WHICH WAS NOISY AS HELL, THE BED-BUGS WHICH WERE AN ADDED BONUS TO THE ALREADY NIGHTS FROM HELL FOR $179.00 EACH NIGHT (FIRDAY & SATURDAY). AND THE REST OF THESE IDIOTS GIVE THIS A 5 STARS?? THEY SHOULD ALL MBE TAKEN OUT AND HAVE A BULLET PUT IN THEIR ASSES AND HEAD FOR JUST STUPIDITY ALONE!!! ABSOLUTELY WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER STAYED AT AND WOULD RATHER SLEEP IN MY TRUCK THAN EVER STAY THEIR AGAIN!!!!! ABSOLUTELY THE WORST BANG FOR THE BUCK....MORE LIKE SHOVED UP THE ASS!!!!

Great Room - Definately Will Stay Again
By Sue, 02/20/09
We recently spent a weekend at this hotel. The previous reviews were not great, but it was the only room we could get a short notice so we took a chance. We were pleasantly surprised by the room. It had one of the best hotel showers we had ever experienced, with excellant water pressure, plenty of hot water, and extremely clean. We had plenty of clean towels, and enough of pillows as well. The beds were comfortable, we had plenty of heat, and got a great nights sleep. We would recommend this hotel to others, it was a great deal, and well worth the drive time to the casino's. We saved well over 200.00 by staying in Mystic. We will definately be back to stay again!

Please Read This Before You Decide To Stay Here!!!
By Renee, 02/20/09
Our family decided to take a mini vacation during their school break. Since hotels can be quite pricey during this time of year, we chose to stay 2 nights at the Econo Lodge instead of one night at a really nice place. Where should I start? The bathroom was dirty...the tub had flecks of dirt or whatever in it. Then I found a rectal suppository with a pubic hair on it on the floor. The toilet overflowed once and when we called for help, they made my husband go get a plunger!! There was not enough towels for a family of 4 and the pillows where flat as a pancake...we also had to get our own at the lobby desk which we had to go outside to get to. We also had to change a lightbulb in the lamp while we were here. They gave us one really small bar of soap, and one teeny weeny bottle of shampoo for 4 people. When we left for the day and came back there was a sign on the door that said DO NOT DISTURB (probably because we had pets inside) and for some strange reason, our key card didn't work. It was just one thing after another, after another...I regret staying here and wish I wouldn't have been so frugal and just stayed at a really nice place. The continental breakfast consisted of 2 different types of dry cereal and dry bagels along with juice. We had a coffee pot with just one little cup-that's not good! Some of the workers were quite nice but I wasn't impressed at all. I guess it might have been ok if you're just passing through and need a place to rest your head but not for a family vacation. Bite the bullet and stay in a decent place. I guess you get what you pay for but I've stayed in hotels this same price and they were one hundred percent better than this place. This wasn't even worth the sixty or so dollars a night. I hope this review helps you decide-trust me-you don't want to stay here.

just fine for the price
By paul, 12/28/08
The Econolodge in Mystic CT is a very old motel. The rooms were pretty clean with a descent shower and working toilet. The beds were very comfortable with clean soft sheets The price paid was a bargain given that it is in the heart of Mystic CT. The property is convenient to all tourist attractions, restaurants, shopping and casinos. The motel itself is in dire need of a major renovation. Wallpaper is ripping, doors are chipping. I could go on and on. Now with that said I am lead ro believe that in the prime summer season the rates for this motel are about $ 150.00 per night Not worth it!!!!. If your looking for a quick overnight in this area during the winter, this will do

why so cheap
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/04/07
the cost of this room is misleading we paid 79 for thurs. and 149 for friday. looking for a nice affordable hotel for mini vacation. this is not it. room was substandard. shower curtain was moldy literaly. not very clean overall. no coffee maker either as advertised. bed was bouncy and holes in box spring didnt even want to look under bed cover.the only thing i thought was nice was the pool but it closed at 8 pm. and it is in far corner of parking lot. if you are looking for a place to rest after a long drive and not on vacation for more than a day i would say go ahead if you are really tired. but if you are in mystic for a vacation, or romance is what your looking for forget it go somewhere else. we will never stay there again no matter how tired we are. we stayed two nights and felt it ruined the vacation mood. very disapointed.

The Last Straw
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/30/07
Bottom line is, you can't beat the price for a place to stay in the middle of Mystic attractions. That said, I don't know if there are new owners since the other people left their reviews, but the place doesn't give you a penny of value over what you pay. I've stayed there at least 5 times in the past few months, due to time and money constraints, and each time, I've been more disgusted. The first time I was there, I got a room that wreaked of cat urine. They allow pets, so that's to be expected. I did get some attitude when requesting a different room, but was granted it. Giant stains on the floor can also be overlooked. But droplets of urine all over the toilet seat, make-up on a hand towel, some kind of pasta sauce on the table, are things that cannot be overlooked. This last stay there, will surely be THE LAST. As my husband and I were leaving to go to the store, the staff (owners?) unlocked our door to scrub the threshold in preparation for painting. Then they walked away, leaving the door to our room open! We requested they close the door, but it turned into a bit of an argument. We waited as they painted the threshold and shut the door. We got a nasty glare from one individual, who apparently doesn't know the meaning of hospitality. Let me also point out, that the person who unlocked our door had not knocked first. What might she have seen had we not been going to the store at that time?

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/07
This place is obviously very poorly managed. The overall cleanliness of the room, and the attitude of the staff, were atrocious. Even at such a low rate, this room was overpriced. My advice - keep looking.

Acceptable Budget Accomodations
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/01/06
If you are on a budget, and aren't expecting too much, the Econo lodge of Mystic, CT is an acceptable budget accomodation. It is very close to attractions such as Mystic Aquarium and Mystic Seaport. The accomodations were decent overall and rooms included a microwave and refrigerator, which was a nice plus. We had a problem with the first room we were given but upon request were given another room that was to our satisfaction. Off season especially, the prices were better than fair. We would recommend it as an acceptable to decent budget accomodation.

Affordable and clean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/06
It has an excellent location. The check-in and check-out was quick and the room was in good order when we arrived. The staff was good and the place was very clean (I even checked under the sheets!). It is literally 1 minute from the Aquarium and many nice restaurants. Also, 3 minutes from Kitchen Little (you must have breakfast there). I recommend it 100%.
