We will be back!

When you get home and back to the grind of things at work from a nice vacation like this. Once in a while someone will ask you “So how was Hawaii?” and that first recollection you have is usually the best time you had when you were on vacation. Yes? You know what I’m talking about. Well, my recollection was the time I spent snorkeling with my 7 yr old son the first day we stayed in Honokeana Cove. I will never forget the look on my son’s face when I first told him to look down into the water. The turtles were right in front of us but he didn’t realize how massive these turtles are until he looked down. I have never seen his eyes open so wide! And he froze like a frog in a pond. About 8 seconds later I saw this huge smile on his face. We were surrounded by giant sea turtles, and the gentle waves were pushing and pulling us along with the turtles. That there…that 15 mins is what comes in mind when people ask me “So how was Hawaii?”
We stayed in unit 207 Aug26th to Sept 3rd. 207 was big enough, clean except for couple of very small moldy spots in the bathroom. Not enough to warrant a call to Sue, Betty or Dave. If we had I’m sure they would have taken care of it within minutes. One thing we did wish for was towel service which they don’t provide. The loft which we paid extra $10 per day for was too hot to be of any use even with the ceiling fan at full power. There is a constant gentle breeze that flows through the rest of the condo. There is road noise however, through the bedroom window facing the street. The view from the lanai was spectacular. We saw rainbows in the morning, sunsets in the evening, snorkellers swimming with the turtles in between. The staffs, Sue, Dave, and Betty are nice, friendly, and helpful. The grounds including the 3 grills were kept immaculate thanks to Dave’s constant hard work. The man deserves a raise. They all definitely have the Aloha spirit (including the guests.)
This is the first and only place we stayed at in Maui so I can’t tell you that this is the best place to stay because I don’t know. I just know that for us this place is better than the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Oahu, and way better then Outrigger Plantation in Kauai. When we go back to Maui in a few years we are going back to Honokeana Cove, the sure thing. Thank you, Sue, Betty, and Dave for the wonderful memories.
BTW, go to Snorkel Bob for gear rental (and not the other place), turn left at the driveway and go 1/2 mile or so.
