An Inexpensive Place To Run Away To
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/18/06
I've been coming to Morro Bay for many years, and this Motel 6 is my favorite place to stay when I'm on a strict budget, and just want to escape from L.A. for a few days respite. It's definitely an economy motel, but the rooms are clean and comfortable, and, if you're lucky, you can get one of the two or three south-facing rooms with a view of Morro Rock. The in-town motels have more amenities, and are closer to shops and activities, but if those things don't matter, this one is a great value.
Atascadero State Beach, ideal for beach combing, is at the end of the road, only a five minute walk away, and is never crowded, even in summer (except on weekends). It stretches northward for miles.
There are a few fast food places nearby, as well as grocery stores. Morro Bay town with its waterfront shops and great restaurants, is only a mile drive to the south.
