Luxurious Urban Chic with One Serious Flaw
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/12/08
Likes: Modern, well thought-out design; luxury written all over it down to the shower curtain and bedside fiber-optic lamps; spa shower; relaxing atmosphere; very Zen feel; very comfortable platform bed and luxurious down pillows; friendly, welcoming staff; stunning swimming pool area; walking distance to restaurants; free parking (unlike other DoubleTrees that charge $14/night). Dislike: loud air conditioner with intentionally disabled fan control stuck on "high"; sounds like a vacuum cleaner being turned on and off every 5 minutes throughout the night. Try sleeping with that in the background. Aircon noise defeats purpose of the room. Apparently, all air conditioners in the hotel operate that way according to front desk. Big oversight. Too bad, I like the hotel but can't sacrifice sleep again!

rooms are comfortable and very clean with a modern decor. The Staff is very friendly and makes you feel at home. I will return on future trips for sure.

What Happened?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/02/06
My husband and I always stay at the Holiday Inn Monrovia while visiting family there. And up until a few months ago its been great. They said they have internet. No internet. And before the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. All of those people are gone, replaced with people that don't smile and aren't willing to do anything extra for you.. My advice, stay at the Four Points Sheraton in Monrovia, resonable prices and much better hotel.

Did not feel like a vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/14/06
We were in Pasedena for a wedding and the wedding party stayed at the Holiday Inn. There was no room service after breakfast, you had to order from a restaurant down the street. The pillows were very hard as well as the beds. No toiletries were given except a shampoo\conditioner in one. We had to call 3 times to get more towels to our room. The hot tub and pool were freezing. None of our wedding party were able to lounge around and hang out by the pool. They did not bother to fix it. The rooms were not very nice and the hallway carpert was bunched up. It seemed like the heat was on making it very uncomfortable. No Internet. I would never stay at this hotel again. We did however stay at the Holiday Inn in Santa Monica we booked previously after staying in Monrovia. It was such a pleasure! Right at the Santa Monica Pier. Close to shopping and Venice Beach. Lots of extra's in your room. No Hot tub though and you had to pay $20 for parking per night. But we are planning on going back to Santa Monica and staying at the Holiday Inn with our kids. It was an amazing deal we got for $100! We bid on line. Everything else was $200 on up. Do not stay at the Holiday Inn near Pasadenia in Monrovia. But the Santa Monica one is perfectly located and moderately priced with nice rooms and little extra's that make you feel like you are on vacation.

We had a very comfortable stay and felt relaxed to come home to our hotel while visiting family in Pasadena. Really friendly and informative help in either the restaurant, bar or front desk. We would definitely return to the area and that hotel...thank you....

Poor
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/15/04
That's all I can say. Had to change rooms due to a pumbing problem. Most Holiday Inn's are good about giving an upgrade with all the nights I've stayed with them. These guys seem too think their fancy lobby which isn't all that great in itself I've seen better at other Holiday Inn's I've stayed at.
