Pinch me!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/1/07
The Adobe Inn was the base of operations for the wedding of a family member. I had no preconceived notions about my room, except for the fact that it was somewhere in Carmel. Have mercy! I walked into a huge, wonderful room, all peaches and cream with a lovely embroidered satin bedspread on my king sized bed. The fireplace logs burst into flaming glory with the touch of a button. A TV was hidden away in a stylish armoire, which was flanked by two handsome French provincial chairs and large round table. This was just the first impression! The service was outstanding, with nothing left undone. Doris, the indispensable manager extraordinaire, smoothed over all the little bumps that precede any wedding, included a last-minute rush to her "jewelry connection" to repair a broken bracelet...the bride's "something blue." Breakfast was delivered on time, served with a flourish, and most generous in its proportions. The location was perfect. Two quiet blocks from Ocean Avenue, two blocks from the church, and within walking distance of all the dining and shopping adventure that is Carmel. I enthusiastically recommend the Adobe Inn, but mind, only if you don’t want my room when I do.

Not up to Carmel standards!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/27/05
"Just average" is not what you look forward to when staying in Carmel. We've stayed at six other inns over the past years..some more than once. Have alays heard Adobe was highly rated and had undergone recent renovation. So, after coming all the way from Dallas, we were really disappointed in the room (almost shabby, but clean- if you don't count mold on bathroom ceiling and smudges on woodwork). The"continental" breakfast was a piece of sliced grocerystore-bought bundt cake...after two days, we opted to eat out. Fireplaces were gas-not that wonderful oakwood smell you associate with Carmel evenings. And the small fiberglass tub with frayed, dusty shower curtain really put us off. The location and parking are good...but doesn't anyone care anymore about the up-keep. Its a shame. Not up to Carmel standards.
