Best Western Plus Fireside Inn Moonstone, Cambria

I have enjoyed staying at this hotel in Cambria before but my last visit was very unpleasant. The gentleman at the front desk was rude when we checked in, we asked for a room with a fireplace but when we got to our room there wasn't one and we were told there were no more available. We had to go to the front desk a couple times during our visit and no one was there. We were left waiting around for service both times. Then once we got home my husband realized he had left a sweater I had bought him in one of the drawers. When we called to ask if it was found we were once again treated rudely and like we were a bother. After calling for a few days in a row to see if they found it they finally informed us they did. We received the sweater today and it was crumpled up in a ball and shoved in a very small box. There was no note or attempt to fold the sweater neatly. We will definitely never stay here again but we will stay at one of the many other lovely hotels on Moonstone Beach.

I have been going to Cambria for the past 3 years. And we are returning this Spring. We have stayed at this hotel every time and already reserved our room for our upcoming trip. It is a very cozy hotel and I feel at home every time. I went in 2006, 2007, 2008, and soon 2009. We usually start off our stay by going to Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill. Watching the Sunset and relaxing. Then we head back to our room to relax and then start off our vacation the next day. I love it there. I reccomend this hotel and location to anybody that loves to relax or get off their feet.WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My rating would have been excellent in all however, we really didn't use any services with the exception of our shuttle to Hearst Castle. Our visit to BWFI was extremely delightful. We had an ocean view room with fireplace and Jacuzzi tub. Everyone was so very nice and our Shuttle driver to the Castle was very informative and also took us to see the elephant seals as well as provided a box lunch which we stopped at the pier to eat. We purchased the Hearst Castle package for Friday thru Sunday, which we felt was very reasonable for the price. We also received a free bottle of wine from a local winery! And they have an wonderful complimentary breakfast selections with fruits,danishes,bagels and even waffles you make yourself! Do take a tray from the room with you if you plan on bringing your breakfast back to the room as no trays are available in the breakfast area. We enjoyed dinner at Madeline's restaurant which was excellent however, we were a little disappointed that most of the local shops were closed at such an early hour, so didn't get much shopping in. Suggest going earlier in the day to do any shopping in Cambria as the shop keepers seem to close up early. We went at 5 P.M. We enjoyed the champagne brunch Sunday morning at Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill which was a very relaxed atmosphere and enjoyed sitting outside on the patio, and the service was very delightful. Our stay was excellent, my husband and I enjoyed our first wedding anniversary to our delight and was very pleased with the accommodations. We very much look forward to our next visit soon.

After reading all the glowing reviews of this hotel, we chose it as one of our stops. We had unfortunately reserved the last room and knew that this would come at a price. Upon our arrival, we asked the desk clerk if there were any last minute openings that would allow us to change rooms. The only answer that we received was "That's the price you pay for an ocean view". Not what one expects in terms of customer service. On our walk to our room, we found that they were doing moderate construction, of which we had not been told- an important fact for someone with allergies. The room itself was beautiful and spacious. Our ocean view was breathtaking, both in the morning and at night, many couples sat outside to enjoy the beauty. For light sleepers, please note that the plumbing is VERY loud! There is a very nice breakfast and free internet access, always a plus. All in all, not our best stay at a BW.

We have stayed here several times, the location is excellent,(across the street from moonstone beach) and the rooms are large, very clean and updated. The continental breakfast is one of the best I have seen, plenty of variety. My kids love the jacuzzi, and some rooms have a fireplace and patio. I would recommend it to anyone.

The location was perfect. It is steps from the walk along the ocean - minutes from a beautiful sunset. The room was large, the largest we stayed in during our weeklong trip to CA. We did manage to stay there during an unusual heat wave which negated the use of the in-room fireplace. Because of the heat we could have used a/c, though it was not uncomfortable. It was clean and well kept. The room was quiet even though the motel was full. Breakfast was more than adequate with cereals, fruits, muffins, croissants, danish, hard boiled eggs and waffles you made yourself. The pool area was pleasant. Our 'garden view' room overlooked a bush and parking lot - I would request a room with patio area for our next visit. Truly a place I would visit again, both the hotel and Cambria.

My husband and I enjoyed our quiet, two-night stay. Our room was immaculate, furnished with stylish furniture, comfortable king size bed with elegant bedding, and wall-to-wall tiled bathroom with a granite counter top. There was a good selection for the continental breakfast(fresh waffles, hard boiled eggs, muffins, bagels, breakfast beverages). The hotel is walking distance to the beach and less than a mile away from downtown Cambria. I highly recommend BW Fireside Inn. Their service is great and have a friendly staff. I'm ready to book my next trip there!

The rooms were excellent. Close to the beach and restaurants. Excellent beach board walk and pic nic areas. Ideal motel to stay for onward journies to other California cities.

liked the private balcony, loved the view & walks along the ocean,Very quiet,great complimentary breakfast in a nice room, every year for my birthday (Jan. 6 ) My husband takes me there. Short drive to see the Sea Elephants,down the street is a great place to eat Moonstone Bar & Grill.Just love it.Prices are getting a little steep, hope we can continue to stay,2006 would be our 3rd year.
