Warm, welcoming, cozy, home-like.
We were delighted with the accommodations. The room (#5) though small, was cozy, nicely furnished, and clean. It had a well-maintained small stove and fridge as well as an outdoor charcoal grill, which we put to good use. I was really impressed that the Franklin stove had such an efficient draw... not a bit of smoke got into the room. The fire-screen was a bit funky (could use a tune-up) but it worked just fine for our purposes and kept the room nice and warm at night. There was plenty of hot water and we had no complaints about the water pressure. The bed was comfy and lump-free.
The high-speed internet turned out to be a real advantage, since we were searching for a historical site that had few obvious markers. We were able to get online quickly and the service was of good quality overall.
The Pool Family, innkeepers, were even nicer than the room. Josh Pool was very helpful in getting us settled in and gave us several good ideas about sightseeing. Mr. Bob Pool offered some great historical tips about the Big Bear region and sparkled with wit, courtesy, kindness and enthusiasm. We will definitely come back to Sleepy Forest and will encourage our friends to do likewise.
