We were a little concerned about the neighborhood with the adult store two doors down and a cheap apartment building right next door,but overall it felt like a pretty safe place after we stayed there for the night--we didn't have any problems from any undesirable types hanging around. We spent one night there on our way to Vancouver Island. They gave us a great deal since we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. When we checked in they gave us cold bottled water. Breakfast was adequate but we've had far better. They bent over backwards to help us out with stamps, mailing stuff,etc.--very concerned about pleasing. Not far to docks either. Would probably stay elsewhere just because of the neighborhood but for someone on a tight budget it would work fine.

This place was pretty much what we expected from the reviews: very clean, very helpful staff and not the best location. However, we did find it pretty quiet in the back with air fan on circulation....it was cool enough we didn't need the AC. The continental breakfast was OK for a day or two but not for the 8 days we stayed. All in all, we were very happy with our stay and would probably go back again.

My husband and I spent the nights of August 22nd & 23rd at the Royal Victorian and loved it. I had talked to the owner over the phone twice, and knew from her sense of humor that I was going to like her. Our room was large, clean, and newly remodeled with a nice frig & microwave, as well as air conditioning. They kept giving us bottled water, snack bars, breakfast rolls, muffins, etc. She also gave us good tips on where to eat, which we could not take advantage of, due to the long wait for the ferry over and back from Victoria. If we are ever in that area again, I will definitely book a room!
