trust the other reviews on this one...
We stayed 2 nights in a days inn up in Ogden (also 2 stars in reviews), and we were surprised by how nice it was. So we tried this one. From the moment we walked into the front desk to haggle rates, we saw a lady come in and bark at the front desk guy for a bath towel and not a pool towel. We thought that was odd, and then he refused to match the online rate we found. So we borrowed the guest computer to make the reservation from the website we saw it on. King sized bed for 2 people 2 nights- $112. The best rate he gave us was $96/night for the same room- almost twice the online rate. So we booked it online, unsure why the company would want to pay the commission on $112 rather than keep it and just match the rate. When we got in the room, the floor was stained really bad and kind of sticky. The bed was really hard and had a spot of dried blood on the sheet, but it was made up nice, and the shower was clean, but the non-slip pads were doing their job about as well as housekeeping(they looked like they were there, but not really working). Breakfast was simple continental, nothing special, just a variety of breads (waffles, bagels, bread, muffins, danishes) and some cereal. Days inn orange juice is gross, so don't try it. get some milk instead. We found this to be the case at both hotels and figured it's a chain-wide problem. The pool does need to be drained and re-painted, it wasn't dirty, just worn, the floor had several spots throughout where the paint was worn off the concrete. I was bothered by the fact that a sauna was advertised on a website, but painted shut and permanently closed when we got to the pool area. The hot tub was nice though, but we turned the lights off in the pool area so the creepy men in the south building didn't watch us swim all evening. Pool hours are 7am-11pm, so that's pretty cool that they let you use the pool that long. But the staff was so difficult to deal with and unhelpful and the room so below expectations that we can't recommend staying here. We understand 2star hotels are going to be not as nice as 3 or 4 star places, but this place was so expensive at check-in, there's no way anyone should pay almost $100 a night for this place. In the time we were booking our room online, the front desk guy had arguments with 4 guests. The worst of them was when 2 men came to get a room with cash, and it was pretty suspicious that they only had an 800 number as a contact phone number. Front desk said there would be a $50 deposit, so the man gave him a hundred dollar bill and asked for 50 back. The front desk said he wouldn't do that, but would hold the entire 100 as a deposit. I used to work at a hotel and my wife asked me why he would do that, his line of logic was that if he gave the guy 50 back and they destroyed the room, then he would be out 50. But the depost is 50, not 100 (of the guest's money keep in mind). So in the morning when they go to check out, I'd be worried about the morning person saying the deposit is only 50, and only giving them back 50 and keeping the rest. The guests were pretty shady guys, and my wife requested a room away from them, but the whole interaction made us so uncomfortable that had I known what the room would be like and the sauna being shut down, I would have stopped booking and gone to another place. It is located right next to the freeway, which didn't bother us since we were out of the place all day and it wasn't loud at night. But we'll be glad to get home to a clean room and our own soft mattresses. I'm thinking the good reviews on here were probably hotel owners and staff trying to bolster their image, but you should trust the negatives more. We don't usually listen to reviews, because they are unduly harsh, we've stayed in 2 star hotels in other places that were very clean and safe and nice, but Days Inn Central is not one of them. Go anywhere else.
