Story Book Cabins, Ruidoso

These cabins were clean, rustic, and charming. The only downside--they are NOT in the woods or a secluded area. Our cabin was literally a few feet from another cabin--just off the road near an office. It was fenced in and it felt a lot like a shanty-town more than a respite due to construction materials etc. laying around everywhere. The website might reflect the proximity of some of the cabins to other cabins/main office as we were expecting peaceful seclusion and privacy and basically found ourselves caged in. The owners also have "rules"- don't be outside after 10pm, don't talk loudly, etc-prob because of how close together these units are. All in all, not a bad vaca, but I thought it important to let people know- this is NOT a cabin off in the woods where you can let loose and relax- you will have VERY close neighbors and the only greenery you'll see is the small patch of weeds in the yard and the tops of trees over the fences. The cost should be much lower given the location.

The online photos are everything the proprietors said it was. Tom & Jennifer, were welcoming and accommodating. The cabin was expertly outfitted with everything anyone could want, was exceptionally clean and neat, and was the epitome of “rustic charm”. Cabin was located close to town and far enough into the woods to get the "mountain feel" (mule deer walked by our deck). We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Location, location, location. The upper canyon of Ruidoso is close to everything but these cabins are slightly off the beaten path and are so quiet and peaceful it was hard for me to get my husband to come in from the hammock on the front porch! The owners are fantastic and the place is immaculate. Thoughtfully stocked full kitchen, large bathroom, full fireplace and comfortable furnishings make this place a must stay. Our cabin was decorated so well we felt at home instantly. Highly recommended.

We went here over a year ago for our honeymoon, and now we're checking into going again on our anniversary! Very quite, and romantic. Highly recommended!

This is the best place to stay in Ruidoso. Cabins are like a home away from home. Tom, Jennifer and Michelle are great. Everything about Story Book is awesome. Nice, quiet and peaceful place to stay. Have stayed there for years, highly recommend you staying at Story Book.

Our visits to cabin # 3 at Story Book cabins are always wonderful. From the ambiance of 'our' newly redecorated cabin to the thoughtfulness and professionalism of the owners and staff, our yearly visits to Story Book are: revitalising, refreshing, relaxing and worth every trip. As you can tell from the title of this review, my wife and I are on our 6th trip to Story Book and definitely will return! Plus, this year we were able to utilize our laptop and get online via their new LAN. This might sound like it would take away from the peace and quiet, but we like to stay 'connected'. All in all, it's hard to beat a roaring fire in the fireplace, a wonderful book along with two very comfortable Lay-Z-Boy recliners! Tom and Jennifer - job well done! We have stayed at Story Book Cabins many times and that is the only place we will stay in Ruidoso. When we are there, we are in our very own world and nobody bothers us. The cabins are beautiful, clean, private, have everything you could want or need in them, and the perfect place to be if you don't want to be bothered by the outside world. Last time we were there, we watched a mother deer with her young one happily munching in the small meadow outside "our" place. These cabins are worth every dollar you'll spend.

I've stayed at Story Book Cabins twice and would find it hard to stay in any other cabins in Ruidoso. They are beautifully built, warm and cozy and have everything a person could want. Just bring your toothbrush. Maid service keeps the place clean. Pine trees are awesome, air is cool and crisp, beds are oh so comfortable. I love the place and can't wait to go back. C. Stanton
