Misty Mountain Lodge, Estes Park

Misty Mountain Lodge stay was wonderful! The owners are gracious and helpful. We enjoyed the various lawns to hang out together and for the kids to play games. The location is a short walk to so many different things to do- restaurants, parks, funplex, and a laundromat. Many special memories were made while we were there! We highly recommend the Misty Mountain Lodge for a memorable visit to Estes Park.

After searching for hours for somewhere affordable and nice to stay in Estes Park on memorial day weekend, the best deal always came back to being the Misty Mountain Lodge. Not only did I find it to be the most affordable of all the other lodges in Estes Park (including the surrounding hotels in most cases), after walking around there really didn't seem to be a better location then this lodge. In addition to the affordability and location, the owners who run the Misty Mountain Lodge were extremely helpful and hospitable. I have traveled to a number of places with family and stayed in nice hotel rooms in the Adirondacks, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, South Carolina, Vermont and more, and I can easily say that my favorite place I have stayed out of all of them was the Misty Mountain Lodge. Some activities to do near the lodge that we found fun were.... - Rocky Mountain National Park- entrance 5 minute drive - 2 Wineries within a 5 minute walk, and also a Brewery (Don't have to worry about a designated driver!) - A fun park with two mini golf courses, about a 10 minute walk - the main street in Estes with all of the shops, 5 minute walk - Stanley Hotel Ghost Tour (book way ahead and make sure to avoid weddings, otherwise you miss out on seeing a lot of rooms.....like all of them) 5 minute drive- park in the back on the left, it gets pretty crowded in the front. Just an additional note, The room was very clean and very spacious, it was more like renting a lodge style apartment then a room. If you are looking to stay in Estes Park, definitely check out the Mountain Lodge, you will be very happy that you did!

This property is under new ownership and management as of January 2008. Please consider this place for your next stay in Estes Park. The negative experience of the family reunion group in 2006 that entered multiple reviews of their experience should not be transferred onto the new owner/menagers. Thank you.

Our time at Misty Mountain has been precious to us, it's just so restful and restorative. As Marty got ready to go out the door with yet another load of stuff, he looked down and here was a half-grown raccoon, on her/his back legs, peaking in through the screen door. I'm sure if we'd opened it, we would have had company. Since one of our true joys of being at Estes Park is the animal viewing, we felt very honored to have a farewell from a raccoon!

After reading the other reviews, I find that we're not the only ones who find this place unattractive, dirty and over-priced. The only positive thing about the place was the short waking distance down to main street. Everything else was bad---the over-flowing garbage, the lumpy mattresses and terrible pillows, the pull out sleeper was only passable because three little kids slept on it--no adult would have, the cobwebs, and windows that didn't want to crank open or close, the not too clean dishes or floors, the awful looking bathroom, the weeds all over the place, half the lawn was dirt. I could list some more things, but if you haven't already picked up on the true nature of this place, you aren't paying attention.

Don't waste your money on this place. When I think of the amount of money we spent at this lodge it makes me sick to my stomach. And this place is NOT cheap. I felt like we were ripped off, and the managers laughed all the way to the bank. The beds were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in all of my life, and we travel frequently. The cabin was dirty, cobwebs in just about every corner, dishes were dirty, bathroom filthy, and the so-called "flower beds" in front of the cabin were overgrown with weeds. The hot tub was filled with murky brown water, so we didn't dare get in it. One small trash can for the entire cabin. Not enough parking. There is no air conditioning, so you have to leave the windows open, which is fine most of the time, but when you've been hiking all day and it's 92 degrees outside, you come back to a sweltering hot cabin. Also, on our stay there, because the windows are open, we got to spend one night listening to the people next to us fight, curse and argue (very loudly) all night. long. Please don't make the same mistake our family did by staying here. Estes Park is a beautiful town, but don't waste your money at this lodge.

The location is perfect, close to town and yet secluded and quiet. Where else can you go where the city is so close and yet your accomodations are so secluded. The grounds are well kept, rooms are roomy and comfortable, Elk are always on the grounds at various times throughout the day. I can't think of a better place to get away from it all!

This is a quaint, just off the beaten path, dream for people who love and appreciate Estes Park! I woke up to five elk out my window eating grass. The accomodations were clean and cozy. The owner's were true examples of Christian servants. I would HIGHLY recommend The Misty Mountain Lodge to anyone. It doesn't seem fair on this website, that one family's bad experience could taint their overall rating.

I'm sorry but when a family plans on staying at a place, and has reservations planned the year before... the customer service should be a little better than what they have here at Misty Mountain Lodge. I would not recommend any other family or anybody for that matter to stay here ever. The owners are selfish and for the amount of money they charge... they are extremely rude. The cabins seemed to not have been cleaned in months... cobwebs everywhere! And the tubs could use a scrubbing! Trust me... you do not want to stay here, Estes Park is too beautiful a place to have it ruined by Misty Mountain Lodge!

It is sad that the owners lack customer service since that should be their main goal. I would never stay there again.
