Village Inn Waupaca, Waupaca

I have stayed here only a few times, but I have been very pleased both times and now stay there when I am travelling through the area. I have never been given any reason to question the service I have received. Although the rooms could be a little cleaner, I have never had any complaints for what I pay. I would put the courtesy of the staff on a level above Super 8 over the last couple of years. If I had a concern of any kind, they took care of it immediately and did not try and push it off like some staffs at a few Super8's have done.

This hotel is full of inconsistencies. A group of us stayed there last summer (2005) and found huge variations in our accommodations - even though we were paying the same room rate. Though the main areas were respectable, the individual rooms had not been deep cleaned in a long time. Many were in dire need of maintenance. Items we experienced were: * Caulking around bathroom floor and tub was dried out/ cracked and there was mildew and dirt in the cracks * Mold growing on the shower curtain *Half painted rooms (maybe primer applied to random areas) * Half of the light bulbs were burned out * Ceiling light fixtures were filled with dead bugs * The beds/mattresses were TERRIBLE. It was impossible to get any sleep. * One guest had the doorknob to their room fall off in their hands. We found that the staff appeared pleasant but were giving different “stories” to guests. Some with room problems were given better rooms. Other people who EARLIER reported the same problem were told there were no options (i.e. no other rooms were available). This place is definitely over priced and would be best rated as a one-star hotel.
