The Buxton Inn, Granville

My mother and I decided on a getaway for the night and had heard of the Buxton Inn. The building was built in 1812 and you could tell it was in need of repairs. There are a lot of step to go up to the rooms and they were not the most sturdy. The room was decorated very nicely, however, it needed a good cleaning. There was dust on the curtains and under the furniture that probably hadn't been moved for a year. The beds were very high and a person need a stool to get into them. The dining room is closed on Mondays so if you plan on eating, scope out a different place. Would I stay here again? I would definitely have to think about it.

I fell in love with this place the first time I stayed there. I'd been traveling with my folks that time and got them a room across the street at the Granville Inn thinking it would be very nice. Since they only had one room available there, I decided to try the Buxton Inn for myself. I wasn't expecting much since it was about half the price of the Granville Inn. Boy were we surprised. My room was twice as beautiful as theirs across the street. Filled with antiques and lush bedlinens and draperies. Their website and brochures really don't do the place justice. The courtyards with their fountains and greenery are lit up with little white lights at night and feature several statues. I had the chance to revisit Granville a few weeks ago with a girlfriend of mine. We had another beautiful room and got to have dinner in the conservatory room of the restaurant. The food was excellent as well. I highly recommend the Buxton Inn and look forward to many more visits there. Since each room is different, it will be a pleasure to see what it will contain.
