Howard's Motel, Marshall

I never stayed in a motel before but after staying at Howards for two night, I was amazed to see the room. Room was very clean and affordable. Owners were nice people. They are doing some work in the room.

I don't normally stay in Motels, but location was convenient for me. After speaking with the owners, I found that ownership recently turned over and that they were now running this motel. I can't tell you enough how wonderful and nice both of them were! The rooms and the grounds were very clean, much better than I was expecting. That, coupled with a very good rate, made for a great stay. I will go back every time I'm in this area. Highly recommended!

Very well kept buildings and grounds. The rooms were spotless, for a motel out of the 50s. I could not believe the low price of $48. This is the best basic place to stay in the area. Larry of Iowa

Really nice motel with a classic 50's retro feel but watch your money the old lady that works the office is really old and possibly senile. We stayed for 4 nights and I was sure she was giving me the wrong change but when we payed for the last night we gave her 3 twenty dollar bills the motel was $48 and one of the twenties had a blue line ran down it we left the office went back to the car to return to the room and she runs out talking about she gave us the wrong change so we stopped to see what she meant and she said we gave her two twenties and a ten, We gave her 3 twenties and the twenty with the blue line was not there when she showed us but what are you going to do argue with her? She's old but grannies either a hustler or senile. If your going to stay make sure you have the exact amount to give her cause she walks to the other room to get change and she's a real smooth talker! We loved the room but grandma's got game and I don't think you want to mess with her son with the doughboy tatt he's pretty dam beasty.

Just driving into the lot for the first time made me want to stay here. The lawn, shrubs and pool are all very well kept and clean. When I went into the office it was very clean and smelled nice. The lady running the place could not have been nicer. Once I was in the room it was very clean and smelled great. There was a fridge and a very nice tv. Everything was in great working order. I will stay here everytime im in the area now.

We stay here every year when we come up to the race at MIS. Great place to stay very much like home. Neat and clean, pool is GREAT. Can't wait to come back again this year.

I stay at this hotel every other weekend and feel right at home here. During the summer my family and I have cooked out, the heated pool is great, and Caroline the owner is friendly and if you need anything is more than willing to help you with it. I have stayed at many other hotels in Marshall and in Battle Creek and would stay here before any of the other local hotels. I would say if your looking for a good hotel with a good price I would say check this one out.

WE HAVE A SMALL HOME AND HAD FAMILY VISITING FROM SWEDEN SO WE BOOKED ROOMS FOR THEM AT HOWARD'S. THEY WE VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR STAY. IT WAS VERY CLEAN AND A GREAT PLACE FOR CHILDREN BECAUSE OF THE POOL. THEY WERE VERY CLOSE TO MARSHALL WITHOUT BEING RIGHT IN TOWN SO IT WAS A GREAT LOCATION. IT HAS BEEN A GREAT FAMILY RUN BUSINESS FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND AND WILL USE AGAIN WHEN WE HAVE VISITORS.

We have stayed several times here! The Howard Motel is run by caring, conscientious people. The rooms are clean, have well-padded, very comfortable and, if not new, new-looking, bedding. Problems that are typical of any motel are quickly righted. If there is something you do not like, just tell the management, and they will take good care of you! The pool is heated and well-lit for night swimming. Extra towels are graciously available. Everything works just fine! We have severe allergies to things in the environment, especially sprays, smoke, etc., but had no problems at the Howard. The water is good and has no odor, all this unlike a nearby older motel very close to the interstate that we had to use one time--that motel had uncomfortable beds and small rooms and smelly water. For your money, the Howard Motel is Better, and a GREAT value!

My dogs didn't even like it. we all walked in and I immediately could not breath due to the odor and allergies. I slept in the car and reluctantly used the dirty bathroom. also the provided t.v and fridge were dangerously perched on too narrow countertops that they threatened to fall off of. The bedding did not look clean, the carpets were dirty and gross and there was tons of mold/mildew everywhere in the bathroom. Stay away!!
