The cyst in the heart of Dearborn
It's beyond me why they dont excise this place. Dearborn is revitalizing its downtown with new restaurants, clubs, and condos.
The Mercury is a sad, neglected and scary glorified flop house.
I've always passed by the motor lodge on Michigan Ave when I lived in the city.
The charming coffee house gives the illusion that this place might be a fun, nostagic place to stay a few nights
WRONG!
Upon check in, I got a room, but it had no remote for the TV.
When I called the front desk, the owner (who barely speaks audible English) told me a room with a remote would cost an extra $5 a night. But, she did give it to me for the same price.
I was greeted in this room with a dead earwig floating in the toilet.
the plaster was cracked on the entire back wall. No art on the walls, the light fixtures were out of 1957 and filthy.
Needing some desperate sleep I did crash.
The following day i noticed one of the rooms door was open. Inside there were clothes and papers littering the entire room with music blarring.
After having dinner with my Ma, i headed back to my room, where i was then approached by the lady in the noisey, filthy room.
She asked if i had a cigarette, i said "no" she asked if i had matches, i said "no" trying to get back to my room, she then asked if " I was gonna finish that?" the rest of my sandwich leftover from dinner with Mom.
That was enough. I called the front desk to complain about the tenant. In responce she told me that "the lady did not ask me for food" and if she wants cigarettes, just tell her no.
THis was the last straw, i told her i was checkin out the next morning..she responded. then i have to charge you the extra $5 for the room with TV remote.
This lady was extremely rude, and should not be running a motel.
She knows nothing about customer service.
She has no problem giving rooms to vagrants.
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS
