Management: Please Start Treating Guests Better
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/23/11
I didn't like anything about this place. The structure and mechanicals are worn out and the furnishings are very outdated. The main problem I have is when a guest has a legitimate complaint, the employee should listen, seek to understand and then give a non-rude response. The manager should apologize when his employees are at fault. When the guest requests a small discount, probably would be wise to give it. Then the guest may not be completely happy but will not feel need to tell the world via the internet what a poorly managed and way beyond its prime hotel this is.

Did not meet expectations at all.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/19/09
The virtual movie for advertisment is false as it appears, the elevator was broke down for a day, none of the three ice machines worked, the lockboxes have not been repaired since the hurricane, the pool stopped up from tanning lotion and was not repaired for two days. The elevators reeked of mildew and smoke as did the corridors. People smoked hanging over the bansiters while drunken residents hung in the parking lot. My 7 year old cried to go home. I have to say the girl at the desk was nice but could only do so much. The room was clean during our stay which was the only thing that made the stay tolerable. I would have hated to stay more than three nights with the obvious saturation of mildew and smoke around the hotel. Many other vacation residents voiced upset over the conditions. The virtual video makes it look like the place is imaculate and clean with the beach a step from the hotel. I guess this stay is what I got for attempting to get a very good price on a room. I find if something is very discounted, there is usually a reason. I just hope this makes someone else think before making reservations to stay here.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU RESERVE ROOM HERE!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/24/08
Our room was reaking with cigarette smell, in our non-smoking room. It was so bad our eyes turned red and we could hardly breathe. The front desk was nice enough to let us borrow some febreeze. We went and bought more along with allergy medicine and candles to try and mask the stink. There were no hangers to hang any of our clothes up. I asked 4 employees where the ice machines were, but none of them knew, or maybe it could be the fact that no one could speak English and they just didn't know what I was asking! Once back with the ice, guess what...no glasses or cups to drink anything! Had to go back to the store for drinking cups. They did provide a coffee maker, but guess what...no coffee cups! And the wonderful contential breakfast was a package of little donuts or dunkin sticks, take your pick! Oh, and I hope you like Mexican Blues music...because you will hear it until midnight if you stay here, whether you want to or not. If all this is appealing to you, then you will just LOVE this hotel. Oh, and don't bother to take your computer either, there's no internet connection. There website stated they just went under major renovations, but I really wonder what they did....

Ramada Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/04
We stayed at the Ramada Inn in Gulf Shores, AL on Aug 3-5th. The staff were very friendly to us. The rooms were clean and that is what matters most to us. We were there for the beach and site seeing not to stay in the room. Since the room was clean, we were happy! The hotel is not on the beach but right across the street. The breakfast wasn't excellent but it had coffee, cereal, juice and other snack foods. It was fine for a quick meal, and IT WAS included in the price... So, we didn't have to worry about spending more money on that. Right across the street is Bahamma Bob's and it was a very good place to eat... The staff there were very, VERY NICE! I enjoyed my stay at the Ramada and will stay there again if I go back to Gulf Shores.

Horrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/04
This hotel should be called Ramada Extremely Limited. The rooms were disgusting. The bathrooms were twice as bad. From the smell, to the peeling paint, to the bathroom door that wouldn't close, to the "body" hair left in the shower, it was all around horrible. The "continental breakfast" consisted of Little Debbies snacks cut into small pieces. The price was very overpriced and the tax was even more than 10%. It was the worse night I have ever spent in a hotel and I am highly disappointed. Luckily, we only stayed ONE night.

Overpriced, Rundown, and Smelly!
By Chad, 7/12/04
Our experience with this hotel was negative from the very beginning. The desk attendant must have been in a foul mood and seemed to be disappointed that he had to wait on us. When we arrived at our room (rm. #203) we noticed an unsettling odor that we believed to be mildew. It wasn't so bad that it made us sick, but bad enough that you were constantly aware that the room was not clean. The bathroom was extremely small and the door to the bathroom did not close because of a faulty doorknob. The room was outfitted with a table and two chairs, mini-fridge, iron and ironing board, and coffee maker, none of which I can complain about. The hotel offers a continental breakfast. This was a disappointment as well. The majority of the food offered was just store bought snacks that had been taken out of their individual wrappings and cut in half so that they would appear to not be store bought. There were also several types of cereal, fruit, milk, and orange juice. The breakfast wasn't that bad, but certainly nothing special. The desk clerk at check out time was just as cold as that other go-getter from the day before, only worse because he was the one that handed us a $153 bill. The price was no surprise, however the terrible condition of the room and poor customer service were. This was a terrible value, don't stay there. We won't ever again.

Pets Policy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/2/04
Their website states that they "allow small pets" but the door of the hotel clearly states that animals are not allowed. There is also another large sign on the front desk.
If you wish to bring a pet to this hotel, call ahead of time and clear this up. If you are looking for a nice place to spend time with your dog, Gulf Shores is NOT the place. There is a $500 fine for having an animal on the beach, which made both mine and my dog's experiences less than pleasurable.
There was also alot of mold in the shower, and the pool is quite small. This hotel is certainly not worth the money paid.
