Cheap but OK
By Lauri, 02/03/09
I've gone here for the past 2 winters (07 and 08) and will be going again in a few weeks. You'll never mistake it for a Hilton, but hey, it's $45/night in February and from your bed you can watch the sun rise over the ocean each morning. Plus the traffic is much better here than down in Daytona proper, so it's a bit quieter (although not really quiet). A decent hotel for the money. The "continental breakfast next-door" thing is a crock, but there's a Waffle-house right across the street and a McD's not too far away. The beach is really nice and not too crowded (at least in February).

Money's Worth
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/28/08
This was my second time to stay at the Driftwood. My first visit was in 2004 and the motel seemed to have been very neglected since then. The grounds did not seem as well-kept nor did the rooms. I had returned because of the cleanliness and quaintness along with the feel of "old" Florida. The pool area was also lacking in being as sparkling clean as my first visit. I don't think I will return again. With a little 'TLC', the Driftwood would be such a lovely place once again!

Do not stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/01/07
We were so excited to stay right on the beach, but we were so disappointed when we arrived! We had booked a room with two double beds, but when we got there we were told they only had a double with a twin available, and they didn't even offer a discount on the price for this. When we walked into the room, we knew there was no possible way we could stay there. The room smelled very old and musty, the bathroom was dirty, the window in the bathroom had a big crack in it and wouldn't lock, and the deadbolt on the door wouldn't work. It was a very small room and didn't look anything like the pictures I had seen on their web site. When I went to the office to tell them we wouldn't be staying after all, they never even asked what the problem was or why we had decided not to stay. I have to assume either they knew why or didn't want to know. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. We were concerned for our safety as much as anything else. We went down the road a bit and stayed at Plantation Island, which was great. For $18 more, we got a one bedroom condo that was clean, right on the beach, very roomy, and more family oriented.

Oceanview, Poolside, Private Balcany
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/20/06
Lovely and well-maintained 1950's tile in bath, in-room refrigerator, walk-out to a great super-clean pool, patio-yard and beach. This hotel has attractive foliage in the front and oceanside/poolside appeal in the back. Rooms are clean and comfortable, tend to smell a bit musty, but not smokey. Continential breakfast next door is not worth the trouble. We Absolutely love this place. We are scheduling a return next month. YES, this hotel is a wonderful surprise.

Very old!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/20/06
This was my 1 year old son's first vacation to florida. We were so excited to go to the beach but when we arrived we were soooooo disappointed! The pictures that they use on their website are very decieving! The rooms are very old, the bed was HARD, the bathroom was more like a small closet with a stand up shower, not even a bathtub. We also reserved the kitchen which was also a closet. Overall we were so disappointed that we cancelled our stay and went to the Daytona beach resort and conference center!!! IT WAS LIKE A DIFFERENT WORLD between the two. We will not recommend this "MOTEL" to anyone!

Happy repeat customer
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/22/05
We've been coming to this motel for years, and have never had a bad experience - even right in the aftermath of last year's hurricanes. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating, and you can't beat the location or value. It's an older building, but they go to some lengths to keep it nice and upgrade regularly. They used to accept small pets, but this year for the first time that's no longer permitted; I'm presuming due to refurbishing caused by the storm damage last season. I'm very disappointed in this, but still looking forward to our annual vacation there next week. Many regular and repeat customers here - it's like a family. Reservations well in advance are suggested!

none
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/05/04
we stayed at this wonderful motel for 3 days and loved it. tropical flowers out front, grassy yard in back, plus a solar heated pool, and the beach right there. the staff folks were so friendly. it was like taking a tranquilizer every day, just being there. we loved it.
