Family friendly
By just_a_person, 8/2/09
We stayed in the cottages, which had kitchens--very handy! The place was very nice. We were right by the lake. The resort has access to the lake and several craft available for rental--including canoes and motor boats. The grounds are extensive and attractive. The proprietors were responsive to any needs that arose. I have no complaints. I was not previously familiar with the Adirondack region of NY, so I did not realize how remote it is--I was born and raised in NYC. There was no supermarket or even really a good grocery store. The population, it seems, is insufficient to support one, so bring your own provisions. You'll also need to hike up Mt. Sabbatis to get cell phone reception, but if you are looking to explore an American National and Natural treasure, then this is the place! Incidentally, Long Lake has a nice library with a fine internet connection, as does the resort itself.

The view of the sunset from the porch was spectacular, the cabin very clean and the location very peaceful. Near good hiking and Kayaking and the Blue Mountain Museum

TOO BEAUTIFUL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/9/07
We couldn't of asked for a better place to stay. Family business recently passed down to the son and his wife. They are great, warm, friendly and really made us feel at home. If you want to relax and enjoy true beauty, the Shamrock is the place to stay on Long Lake. We can't wait to go back again next year. A+++.
