Owner addressed problem poorly
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/06/07
Our first four nights at the hotel were fine. It's old, but clean enough. Wireless internet did not work well in our room (as advertised), but we could take our laptop to the coffee shop and get excellent connection. Problem lies in the last night of our stay. The water pipes started wailing in our room. We called the office and the owner recognised the problem and said she was looking into it. Three times that night, we were awakened by the pipes. My husband let them know about it at checkout. He didn't ask for a reduced rate or refund -- just wanted to let them know. The owner/manager said she didn't believe we were wakened by the pipes. He restated that indeed we were --THREE TIMES--and he just wanted to let her know it was a problem. She stayed in the back room and basically called him a liar and wouldn't come out to address him. We won't stay there again.

very friendly
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/27/07
This was a very clean great place to stay! One of the best features is the really helpful staff, the woman at the front desk was extremely helpful in pointing out places to eat/see etc. Lots of charm and a great place to go if you want to avoid a chain hotel.

Excellent motel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/27/05
The Roosevelt Inn at Hyde Park, NY is one of the cleanest, best maintained motels I have ever encountered. The buildings and rooms are immaculate. The motel is an older, 1950's-60's style without a lot of amenities and somewhat plain rooms, but the place is family owned and run and the proprietors show great pride in the business. The room was very spacious, TV worked just fine, and the bathroom was sparkling. Self-serve breakfast (coffee, rolls, bagels) is provided in a large, clean room. The motel is near the town center of Hyde Park, and a few blocks from the FDR home and library. The quality-to-price ratio is very high.

Cute place
By Karen, 04/12/04
Definitely not the place for a high maintenance visitor but if you enjoy charm and character this is the place for you! The inn is really a motel and owned by the same family for over thirty years. You can feel the pride of ownership in the little things that you'd never get in a chain motel. There are two styles of rooms-- rustic and deluxe. The rustic rooms are cute woodpanel cabin-types. Reminds me of motels back in the 50's-- but clean, clean, clean. My sister stayed in one of those. I chose the deluxe with 2 beds for me and my kids. It was nice and roomy. The on-site coffeeshop even had free cocoa for my little one. Definitely a great find for me and my family. We'll be back!
