Red Roof Inn Mystic - New London, New London

I chose the Red Roof Inn because of good reviews on Hotels.com, and I wish I hadn't. There were spots of something brown on the toilet seat, an old dirty washcloth hanging from the shower rod, and one bathroom towel had some sort or brown stain. (also the roll of toilet paper was 3/4 used) When we got back later that night and pulled the sheets back to go to bed, there were hairs on the sheets and pillowcases. It was the most disgusting place I have ever stayed. They obviously came in, made the bed and left without actually cleaning the room. The only good thing was that it's located about 15 min from Mohegan Sun and is pretty easy to find.

I should have known better than to stay there when I saw they had not plowed or sanded the parking lot 3 days after a snowstorm! Our room was ice-cold when we got in, and when we tried to turn up the heat, the thermostat broke off in my husband's hand. We called the front desk and the girl came down to take a look. She was very nice and tried to be helpful (the customer service was the only redeeming feature in this hotel). She got the thermostat put back together and said it might take 30 minutes or more for the room to heat up - it actually took over an hour. The bathroom was filthy, with dirt crusted in all the corners. There were old fragments of facial tissues protruding from the front of the air conditioning unit (I have no idea how long it had been since it was cleaned). It was a modestly priced hotel, so I wasn't expecting luxury. But I had hoped for clean and functional, and those were seriously lacking!
