Red Roof Inn Mystic - New London, New London

While not luxury, this a a good motel if you are looking for value, especially if you are traveling with your pet. Rooms are spacious, bright and clean. It is set behind the street, but near the highway so location is good. Convenient to casinos!

I should have known better than to stay there when I saw they had not plowed or sanded the parking lot 3 days after a snowstorm! Our room was ice-cold when we got in, and when we tried to turn up the heat, the thermostat broke off in my husband's hand. We called the front desk and the girl came down to take a look. She was very nice and tried to be helpful (the customer service was the only redeeming feature in this hotel). She got the thermostat put back together and said it might take 30 minutes or more for the room to heat up - it actually took over an hour. The bathroom was filthy, with dirt crusted in all the corners. There were old fragments of facial tissues protruding from the front of the air conditioning unit (I have no idea how long it had been since it was cleaned). It was a modestly priced hotel, so I wasn't expecting luxury. But I had hoped for clean and functional, and those were seriously lacking!
