The Penn Wells Hotel & Lodge, Wellsboro

The only thing my husband and I found distasteful about this hotel were the chairs in our room. The room was small but could have accommodated two comfortable chairs. My husband and I are senior citizens and after a day of sightseeing and walking around town it was very uncomfortable sitting in a straight-backed desk chair and a chair normally found in a waiting room. There are rooms with wing-back chairs which we will request should we return to Wellsboro.We have actually stayed in nicer motels for less money than what we were charged at the Penn Wells Hotel. With the exception of the Wellsboro Diner, food was horrible, the other restuarants we tried were great, especially the dining room of the Penn Wells Hotel.

I think this hotel has a lot of nerve charging the rate they do for a room with NO merrit. The carpet was filthy and worn, the bathroom was barely usable, the lamp could be turned off only by unplugging it because the switch was missing, the matress was old and worn out, and the frame actually broke in the middle of the night, the noise level was terrible...I could go on, but why bother? Needless to say, we will not be returning to this hotel.

It was kind of like that hotel but not nearly as nice. We had a two bedroom suite. They must have taken the previous comments about being dirty to heart. The room was clean but SO old. The floor had approximately a 3 degree slope towards the center. The hallway floor was also uneven. Our room was right above the back door of the bar where everyone would go to smoke so not so pleasant for non-smokers. The best thing that could happen to this place is a can of gas and a match.

My Husband & I have stayed at the old Penns Well Hotel 3 times so far. Great location. We love the originality about it. I like to look at all of the old pictures hanging on the wall in the main dining area. We come to eat at the breakfast buffet, even if we can't get a room to stay in because of being fully booked. We will be back again to stay, hoping to bring some family members with us whom have never been there before.

Dirty, old, dirty, musty, dirty, filthy, dirty - that about covers it!!

Great old hotel. Fantastic little town. If you're looking for a weekend getaway, this is the place

we stayed there with our Model A Ford Club, it was great , old time place , it was nice , the food in the morning in the old time dineing room was great too , we will go back for sure

The exterior of the motel was inviting and the interior was warm, attractive, and comfortable. The rooms, although older, have all the essentials for a pleasant night stay. The lobby with its fire place and memorabilia made me want to curl up and stay for awhile. The dining room was enticing with its buffet and menu. Everyone was so nice and helpful. We enjoyed walking through the town visiting the speciality shops, especially the home made candy store. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Wellsboro.

After taking refuge here from a "motel" in the area that turned out to be a cabin, this was heaven. Granted, it is an older building and with the cheap price it's not going to have the best furniture or most updated things but our room was clean, the Mary Wells dining room had decent food for a fair price (20% off if you are staying there), and it couldn't have been in a better location to enjoy the town of Wellsboro. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a clean place to stay with a great location and a moderate budget. It can't be beat for the price.

Plain & Simple. Nice town. Bad Room. The front desk were very friendly and nice. Look elsewhere. Ranks up there with the worst of them. I'm young Don't get too picky with things but come on man, where did you guys get that nasty furniture in our room???? Kind of reminded me of something out of archie bunkers house.
