Black bear lodge
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/10
I've been visiting the black bear lodge with my family sin e inwas 4 years old and I've never had a bad experience until this past weekend. My boyfriend and I decided to go up there for my last weekend home before I leave for the army. The rooms were nice but smelled of paint. We planned to go hiking but it was raining so we went to the lobby to use the computer, without asking either of us how old we were she instead said hey boys you can't use the computer without being 18 years of age. For one. I'm 19 and my boyfriend is 24.also I look nothing like a boy I'm very femine. Then after is explain to Her we are of age she does not believe I have to explain to her that I am in the armed forces so therfore I am plenty old enough to be using a computer. Her name was Ella she was a receptionist and she sucks

Best service around!!!
By bruce, 3/31/10
We love the Black Bear!! On our last visit, we mistakenly left behind our 8 year old daughter's favorite stuffed toy. As soon as we realized our mistake we called the hotel to see if they had found it. The staff immediately checked the room, found the toy and called us to alleviate our stress (calming a hysterical 8 yr old is no easy feat :) ) . The toy was reunited with its lonely owner within 3 days! Thanks you so much!! We had a great stay, and will return next ski season without a doubt!

Best place to stay in Waterville Valley
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/7/08
We have visited Waterville Valley in every season of the year, and we have stayed in the Black Bear Lodge many times because it is the best! We love the layout of the rooms, the full kitchen and the pool. The rooms are always clean, the staff is very helpful and the activities in Waterville Valley are excellent, any time of the year. My family loves the trails for walking and biking, the golf course and the tennis courts are favorites of my sons, the kayaks and paddle boats on Corcoran's Pond are great and all included. Waterville Valley is great and Black Bear Lodge is our only place to stay when we visit.

Honeymoon Worthy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/27/07
Hello, I have been to the hotel twice and I cried when I left. The hotel had a fabulous view, and a cozy lobby. And I paid only $168 for a huge Suite! It has a huge pool but the most unique thing about it is that the pool is double the size from the inside because their is a big part of the pool inside and then to get to the hot tubs you have to swim under the glass wall (it takes two seconds even a person with a breathing problem could do it) and then their is another big section of the pool. The pool is heated to the perfect tempture even in the outdoor section! The Hotel is a 2 minute walk to the town sqaure. Think of the town square as the Prominade from 7th Heaven just a little smaller. But Its so cool their is also nice hiking 5 minutes by foot right from your own room!!!!!!!!! This hotel is the best hotel in the Waterville Valley Area.I would recommend it 100% for next Ski trip. It about 5 minutes by car Waterville Mountain for Skiing and about 20 minutes to Loon, 30 minutes (as close as youll get) to Cannon. Oh, and the hotel has nice little sitting loft with coffe and magazines vooks where skiers and snowboarders boast about their perfect day of skiing. Its is the best hotel ever.

Nice summer family vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/05
We enjoyed our stay at the black bear lodge. There were plenty of activities for our children (4 & 6) to do. Kids activities were planned. Access to the pools was great. The fourth of July celebration was wonderful. Having the kitchen helped offset costs of eating out. Air conditioning was a God send in the heat.

Bad Exper by John
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/27/04
I think John has more axes to grind than the local hardware store. You wrote this in August about a bad experience "one" October. which one? Are you affiliated at all with the Valley Inn, whom by the way sent my confirmation with more rules than I had in parochial school. Their zero tolerance policy basically allows them to throw you out after 1 warning on any of the list of 20 infractions....a bit overboard. Oh, by the way, if you are sent packing, they keep your $$. Yes I think you'd be better served by that hostel John. Good Luck to you.

John, you should 'let it go' and hope you got that $50 check in the mail!

BAD EXPERIENCE IN OCTOBER
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/04
VISITED THE BLACK BEAR ONE OCTOBER WITH MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER AND WAS DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF DISCIPLINE BY THE PARENTS OF A GROUP OF BOYS. I WAS TOLD THEY WERE UP TO PARTICIPATE IN SOME HOCKEY GAMES.THE PARENTS ACTED LIKE.... WELL THEY PAID FOR THE ROOMS THEY COULD DO WHAT THEY WANTED. I HAVE STAYED AT THE VALLEY INN AND THEY DO TOLERATE THAT AT ALL. I HOPE THE BLACK BEAR HAS ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM AND HAS CORRECTED IT FOR FUTURE GUEST. I HAVE 5 CHILDREN AT HOME AND BELIEVE ME I WOULD NEVER TOLERATE THAT KIND OF BEHAVIOR BY MY KIDS.
