The Glen, Pittsburg

If you want total R&R in the most peaceful, beautiful & serene surroundings -- this is the place to be. The Lodge has a telephone & a TV but the other accomodations do not. And you will have no cell phone service as there are no towers. All the better to hear the loons as they sing to you and maybe allow you to have a look at this most beautiful bird. And leave your laptop at home. Just breathe in the sights and the clear unpolluted air. I went solo as a woman who is a 24/7 caregiver and uses oxygen and used my car to go from my cabin on the lake up to the Lodge for 3 filling delicious meals.And all homemade I might add.They allowed me to go to the dining room thru the kitchen without my asking for any extra services. Betty, the owner and her staff are so gracious and this is the 50th year Betty as owned The Glen. Go fishing or just take a boat out for a ride, read a book, do puzzles or go hiking or sighseeing. Bring your passport as 15 minutes on Rte 3 North over the Canadien border is the most awesome panarama of the valley of Chartierville, Quebec. Hopefully you brought a video camera as a still camera just won't do it. Explore the beautiful area and return to hear the dinner bell ring and after dinner with all the clear air and the loons singing-- it won't be long before you are off to lullabye land in your clean comfortable cabin. Wait till you see the stars (planets) if you can stay awake that long.

The Glenn is not like anything we've experienced before. First of all, you're accommodation's are right on one of the most pristine lakes in New England. Home cooked food and plenty of it, is included in the price. That's a good thing because there are not many place to eat in Pittsburg. They even ring the big old school bell when lunch and dinner are ready. This is great because you can hear it even if you're on the other side of the lake fishing or boating. This is not a place for the folks who like it fancy......this is clean and comfortable, but rustic. If you haven't been up to Moose Alley .....I strongly suggest it and this is the one of the best places in the area.
