Front desk staff just wanted our money.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/08
Front desk manager / was abrupt with us while check in, it appeared she was much too important to do such trivial tasks and kept walking into the back office to do something else while we were left standing, she also smelled like BO, (thats why we take showers daily in this country.) Our rooms were comfortable and seemed fine but the windows looked dirty and my pillow smelled and looked like someone else had slept on it, I also found long hairs in the bed so I guess this hotel skimps on clean sheets for every new guest. While we went to eat, I asked for a change of sheets and was assured my bed would be changed, it was not, I found new sheets folded on my bed, so I changed it myself. Our meals during our stay were very good, the dining room was busy the three nights we dined, I also noticed the wait-staff seemed a bit stressed and it seemed odd that the dining room manager also waited on tables, so evidently she had little time to be of any assistance to her staff, I also noticed she on all three nights had the,"better?" tables by the fireplace, probably more money to be had there, The staff seemed stressed and managers 2 that we encountered appeared self serving. We will try another place next time because the"vibe" seemed too stressed out, and we just want to relax.

Great mini-vacation destination
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/07
We've just returned from our getaway weekend at the Wentworth. With the exception of our room (in the main hotel - queen standard), it was a wonderful experience. Rooms in the hotel as basic and bland. They are clean, but sterile. Bed linens were average. We learned at the end of our weekend that we should have upgraded (cost$$$) to one of the suites or deluxe rooms in the extended buildings.. which are to die for!!! My advice would be to splurge on the best.. you won't be disappointed. Don't stay in the hotel unless you plan to sleep only. The food was FABULOUS... dinner was a 4 course, upscale selection of delightful dishes... Service was impeccable. Our only complaint is that the hotel states the dinner attire to be elegant casual - no blue jeans, tee shirts, etc -- so we dressed!!! How diappointing to be sitting next to a couple who came in with sneakers on, no attempt at "elegance"... If that is their policy for dinner, they truly should enforce it as the casual couples detracted from the evening. We golfed each day at the Wentworth Golf Course. Well maintained, glorious foliage views and friendly staff. Book through the hotel and receive a discount. The hotel will also set up your tee times. Will we go back... OH YES WE WILL... and will stay in one of the better rooms...

They don't really stand behind their motto.
By Michy, 09/04/07
We told the lady at the front desk that something was really wrong with the bed. As soon as my husband and I got into this King bed we rolled to the middle. After the first night we asked for them to resolve this problem, put on a new mattress or give us a new room. They told us all the mattresses were new but would have maintenance look at it. No one looked at it and we went to bed that night with the same situation only to discover that the problem was the braces under the bed had been pulled out. Maintenance would have discovered it but instead we just had to spend an additional $284 that night for more back pain. And the kicker - they charged us $10/night for an old pack and play and didn't tell us in advance. The hotel itself is nice, but the staff was not helpful and it was a very frustrating experience. Thankfully we had been to Jackson many times and had many great experiences in that area. We just WON"T be staying at the Wentworth.

A Gem of a Find!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/22/07
The greatest feature of this fine establishment was the friendliest staff you could ever encounter--from the few women behind the front desk to the waitstaff-- which I find to be of the utmost importance! We felt a little guilty about calling the desk at 10:30pm to let them know that a group of people had gathered in the parking lot outside our window & the noise level was very loud ...we waited about a half-hour, assuming people were in transition after a party at the inn, and they'd be in their cars and long gone soon enough...so we waited,... but then we finally called. The Wentworth staff couldn't have been NICER and assured us that they would take care of it. Not only that, they followed up in the morning to be sure we had a restful night's sleep (which we did, thanks to their efforts!), and told us we did the right thing by calling! They went above and beyond finding hikes for us in the region which we were so grateful for.... and the food was fantastic! We would happily stay at this Inn again! Thank you, Wentworth!

romantic
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/29/07
Stayed in 'THORNEYCROFT' honeymoon suite (Jan. 2007). Although the room was drafty because of the old non-insulated windows, we managed to keep warm with passsion and the fireplaces provided in both the bedroom and bathroom. There was no view from this suite which was a disappointment. Also on the negative side, there was no private outdoor space. The jacuzzi was heavenly in front of an enormous mirror that reflected the fireplace and ourselves. Glass jars filled with aromatic bath salts and candles added to the ambience. The dining was gourmet and pricey. Every course was presented beautifully and priced individually. Portions were small but delicious. The staff was attentive. The suite needed updating. It would have been nice to have a coffeemaker in the room and a dressing vanity. This particular suite did offer a very romantic surprize which more than made up for what the room lacked. We discovered it by accident and that's the most wonderful way to find it. The discovery was without a doubt our favorite memory of the Wentworth.

Great hotel.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/12/07
This hotel is great. I go there every year and stay at one of the condos but the hotel is great too. When you enter Jackson center it is the biggest building there and the front really does look beautifull. Great location.

Romance
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/06
We loved this place! It is the winter wonderland one dreams of. The service was unbelievable. By the end of our weekend we knew everyone's name fromt he waiter (whom we loved) to the manager etc. Our room was the last book and easily their least favorite but we enjoyed it, it was warm and cozy after a long day of skiing:) We were there last year for Valentine's Day and we can't even wait that long to go back!!

Nice, cozzy , old mansion
By damienp, 02/11/06
Do not expect the latest commodities. Rather enjoy the fireplace, the billard table, and an excellent restaurant. * Walking distance from the Jackson Cross-country skying center. Will definitevly go back if we have the opportunity.

This Place Is Amazing!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/24/05
This is by far my favorite place to stay in the White Mountains. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the service is top notch and the food is simply amazing. I actually proposed to my Wife in front of the fire in room 409.
